Interview them on their living habits and give your expectations. If it's not a good fit, don't be afraid to say so. How does one inquire about living habits? Ask specific questions about stuff that would bug you. "How long do you think it's acceptable to leave dishes in the sink after a meal?" "At what hours do you think it's reasonable to expect it to be totally quiet?" "Under what circumstances should we have to discuss having guests over beforehand?" That kind of thing. Then you can see if you are on totally different planets. Somebody can try to bend to meet the rules, but if you are starting with similar lifestyles, it'll be less likely that they'll fuck up. And you may discover some ways that you think you might drive THEM nuts, which is also not good. . . don't want to have to go through the search process all over again. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

And basically what I would have said. Sleeping habits (are they up till 3am every night?) is also a good one. |

So, I am very serious and don't really need all the horror stories. What would you look for in a roomate and what points would you place in an add? [Edited 2/14/07 13:26pm] If I could choice I would look for: The person has to been CLEAN. I mean, she/he has to hold hygienic rules in the shared rooms, bath, kitchen at minimum! I would make clear also before, how's about the food in the frigo. Will/can you share, or do you prefer everybody to have theyr own food? - Everybody has to respect the other persons things. Will you let him/her participate in your family life, or do you prefer a little privacy? And what wants the person you want to rent the room? Are visits accepted, can the man/woman have guest or borders that you? Those are some of the questions you should make to you and the candidates. (I'm living with other people, but the flat isn't mine. The owner doesn't lieves there and does only rent the rooms. So my situation is a bit diffrent, because I can't do the choise and have to accept and lieve with. I don't feel well, but have no other possibility.)

if my apartment were bigger, i'd seriously look into having a roommate...then again, it'd be a bit tricky in splitting up the rent in half since my rent's being raised this month. woulda been easier before, and rather cheap too.
