I am the only one at work today

Ice/Snow storm here in D.C. I live about a 2 minute drive away from the office, so I have no excuse... I checked the news: federal government is open, which means our office should be open as well.

Got here - 30 minutes late, cuz it took so long to de-ice my Jeep - and the doors are locked, lights are out, and nobody's here.

Except me.

So... i have the office to myself.... what to do, what to do, what to do? evillol

First thing: have breakfast. Second thing: turn up some music.

Work doesn't HAVE to suck.

Although, if i would have known this, i'd have worn jeans. That's the only thing that pisses me off about it. Oh well cool

Anybody else Orgin' at work today?

Sweet! My hubby is from Elizabeth, NJ, so we get up there from time to time. I like going into the city but it always kindof exhausts me. I don't know if I could live there, I'm a country boy at heart. biggrin

I think the last time I was there I went to the Pet Shop Boys show at RCMH... we usually go up for Christmas to do some shopping, but skipped it this year.

we just gotta watch out for the insane cabbies... i swear, NYC is like a giant video game, where the goal to surviving is avoiding getting run over by the cab drivers!!! wink

Although the cabs in DC are pretty bad as well, come to think of it...

the cabbies here are scary as shit, but really good at it. i have only seen one cab wreck, and that was, oddly enough, during the nyc invasion, so all the non-nyc orgers thought it was a regular thing. it was just a fender bender, but they all kind of looked at the cabs and then looked at me. I told them that NEVER happens.

there'd have to be a blizzard followed by a nuclear attack followed by the earth being hurtled into the sun in order for my job to be closed for the day.

even then, i'm sure they have a safe room set up for us to work in. rolleyes

I've had a couple rides when it seemed for sure we were going to careen into a group of wide-eyed tourists trying to cross the street, BUT you're right... the cabbies do seem to know what they are doing!! We usually don't drive in NYC, but when we do Mal is just like the cabbies... he says if you don't drive that way, you'll be hit. I just think he enjoys driving that way confused

Well, I don't even drive in DC unless I absolutely have to, so NYC is OUT for me as far as driving is concerned cool

Yeah, whateva! I work for a branch of the Smithsonian (in NYC) and yesterday the wimps in DC got to leave at 2pm. (We got the email from SI DC.) Then about 5 minutes later we got an email from our NY office saying not only do we not get to leave work early, we are expected to be at work tomorrow (today) and if we don't make it due to weather, we have to use vaction time for the time off. Fuckin' gov't. mad
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
