If you can, get at least a 2GB processor and 1GB of RAM. Go with a Lenovo.

i've never heard of lenovo, and to be honest i'm hesitant of using the no-name brands. boxed

since you're not using intensive programs like animation stuff or even photoshop, you will find even an inexpensive computer to be fast and work well! Get a used PC laptop off craigslist or ebay.

there are so many that would work well for you.

I'm a mac person, and for basic programs I would get a used ibook and it would look and feel great.

Lenovo is not a no-name brand. They are formerly known as the IBM ThinkPads.

Most gamers I've come across go with AMD. Intel is pretty stable especially if the motherboard is an Intel as well, but their processors are generally more spendy. If you can, stay away from the Celerons and go for a Pentium instead.

i have an HP Pavilion desktop now. i want to get a laptop to replace it and a friend who is very experienced with computers told me Compaqs are among the best. i'm wondering if that would include HPs?
