I'm Considering Hair Highlights - Help!

Can any of the orgers who have highlighted their hair help? i have nefer dyed my hair and I am thinking about getting highlight, but I'm chicken. I'm scared they'll look horrible or if they look good the price of upkeep and maitainence. (My hair stylist isn't cheap).
My color is natural red and I am thinking about maybe strawberry blonde to lighten it up a bit.

I get my hair professionally highlighted all the time. Strawberry blonde to highlight your natural red hair sounds pretty. Maybe talk to your stylist, see if they have any suggestions as to what they think will look good on you.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I do have a good stylist. I said I would never chemically alter my hair until i started to go gray, which I haven't yet. I'm going through a slump right now and just feel old and ugly.

It will dry your hair out to some extend, but can add alot of drama.

I have short hair so when I highlight it, it's called a "shoe shine".

In the end it's up to you and how you feel about the color you choose. Make sure you get a good stylist.

Try to go to a place where they break their stylist up between the one who styles your hair and the person who colors your hair--you really want a color specialist.

If you've got gorgeous naturally red hair, I wouldn't touch it.

That said and outta the way, coloring is fun. If you have a skilled colorist, it will be wonderful. It can be pricey to maintain and I will say that coloring can be a slippery slope. It's hard to grow out and/or match highlights back to your natural color if you decide you've had enough of them. But it can be done.

For the most part, that's good advive. However, sometimes you can end up with someone who excels at both. Like my stylist. mr.green

I'm hoping that's the case with him. He's actually the owner of the salon and won't do anything I don't ask him to do. he's been doing my hair for 15 years now so i do trust him. He's not the issue - I am.

If you trust him and he's the owner and you've seen what he can do, then I say go for it. Tell him what your worried about and he can work around it, or steer you in your best options. smile

I trust her and a few yrs ago I asked her about some natural looking highlights for my hair. She did a great job nod
