What's the most unreasonable thing you've said... ...to a Customer Service Representative?
Own up to it. Last night, I got a call which made me wish the caller would fall over dead whilst on the phone with me. After he held for a few moments because we were deep in queue with calls, it being a Monday, my personal greeting finished, "Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless..." etc etc and the first thing I hear, rather than him answer the "may I have your name please?" is: "WHAT THE FUCK TOOK YOU SO FUCKING LONG?" Yeah. You can imagine the rest of the call. He wouldn't shut up long enough for me to look through his fucking information and make any sense of it all. Honestly, I don't get paid enough. This one's for you. | |

Well, at least that's not horribly unpleasant. That fucker last night called me an idiot for like five minutes. I'm pretty sure he was trying to get an account credit out of me--He still owed $35.27 for last month's bill, had owed $190-summat in total, and for the last month, was making various tiny payments multiple times a day on that bill. When I mentioned that, he changed his tone a little bit. "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?" "Sir, if you will please refrain from using that language and be patient, I'm looking into that right now." "DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT?" "Sir, it would be easier to determine if you hadn't made multiple $10-or less payments every day for the last month. As it is now, I am trying to see which ones are still pending from your cards so that I can give you a more accurate total of what to pay tomorrow before you acquire a late charge." I weep. I am in the IT industry, it was a technical issue involving technical terms, i was on a customer site under pressure and this fucktard could not understand the industry terms! | |

I have power. i WAS a telemarketer so i'm always nice to them if they call, even though it's getting more difficult. i'm in customer service now, but still when i'm on the other side of the call sometimes i want to reach through and strangle them. though the last call i made the guy was very nice and i completely changed my attitude and after he answered my problem i wished him a happy day. but one time a customer of ours was yelling at me, and i was really wishing he'd swing at me so i could swing back! There is no perfect place

one of the funniest stories that ever happened to me when i was in customer service/contracts admin was when i called a customer about a delivery issue. i walked back to the sales manager's office to tell him about our conversation, just when the same customer called him. the sales manager put him on speaker phone, and he started the call by saying "what are you doing having a FUCKING WOMAN calling me!!". so i stepped up to the phone and said: "it was nice talking to you, too, Steve!" ahhh, live is good sometimes! | |

Though I'm not officially a customer service rep. I still deal with customers all day long at work, and more often than not end up answering the phone.
Most customers are alright, but I've had people scream at me, swear at me, call me names. In a toy store in front of little kids, no less. I had one lady on the phone start bawling when I told her the return period for her purchase had run out. I've also had a startling number of people accuse me personally of trying to rip them off because they didn't like how much certain toys cost! As if I see them coming in, and covertly run around the store changing the price tags on things. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!" | |
