Wow - This Blows My Mind - LOL! I had a job interview for a temporary assignment that was to last 3 - 6 months. The owner of the company interviewed me, telling me the job duties were, etc. etc. Get this, they didn't even use computers yet, they did all of the typing on typewriters!!!! What the hell, I didn't even think companies that used typewriters even existed anymore, and that they all had computers. The owner did say that they were looking into getting a computer system that would fit the company's needs. I felt like saying, "Yeah, I think you should; you're living in the stone age. This is 2007, not 1977." Un-freakin-believable! Just makes me shake my head when I think about it. Of course, I won't be accepting the job. The job agency called to find out how my interview went, and I told the girl that they did not even use computers yet. She said she didn't blame me for not wanting the position. For me, it's like going backward instead of forward. [Edited 2/9/07 12:48pm] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

weird. they must be either really into the whole old-school thing, or just a bunch of tightwads if they still haven't bought at least a couple of computers.

The owner struck me as a tight-wad. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That what I wonder about too! I mean, every time you make a mistake on a typewriter, you have to use correction tape or white out (and that can look messy). Also, sometimes you may need to correct something or forget to type a line of something on a document. You have to try to line up the already typewritten words with the words that you are correcting and/or adding just right with what's already on the page (and that can be difficult). With a computer, if you make a mistake, no big deal, just hit backspace or delete. If you need to change something or forget a line or need to change something, you just go into the document and change it. This company really needs to get with the new millenium! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Great idea, but I'm not sure that the owner/boss would go for that. He seemed kinda set in his ways. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I remember days when I wrote entire papers on typewriters! Okay, I was in the 3rd grade, but I remember having to write out several drafts by hand and THEN when everything was perfect, you brought it to the typewriter. You couldn't do any composing on it, it was simply the final stage. If you screwed up or forgot a line or something, you had to go back and type the whole page over.
