Any suggestions on how to deal with my ear?

My nasal passages are always going haywire. I am sensitive to smoke, to air conditioning, certain foods I shouldn't eat. I have never been diagnosed with allergies but I'm sure I have them. So because my nasal passages are always in chaos, my right ear experiences a blockage. I won't be able to hear as well out of it, until I actually pop my ears, you know like when you are in high altitude. Well that clears my ear and I can hear better but it sounds like a broken speaker to me. It sounds like when you have water in your ear.

I don't like taking medication for my nose, it makes me feel very weird. Is there anything I can take that is really mild, I mean like literally not a drug but something more natural? Is there a remedy for the ear thing, like drops to dry it up or something? I heard the doctor can suck the ear stuff out but I never had that done. Is it painful?

The ear thing really gets in my way of listening to music....

it sounds nasty hug

I guess just keep on with the Doctor. If it is wax they they should be able to get rid of it for you. But with your nose problems too maybe try and see a ENT specialist.

I suffer allergies but, like you, do not like to take prescription medications and so have had to explore alternative treatments for relief.

Have you ever heard of a Neti pot? It is a small pot with a long, slender spout designed to irrigate the sinuses with a saline solution. More details can be found at this link: http://www.healingdaily.c...ti-pot.htm. Using a Neti pot can be awkward at first but many people swear by its effectiveness at clearing out the sinuses and nasal passages.

Imago

1. Cut out all dairy

2. Buy an air filter from walmart (40 bucks are less). Make sure it uses a HEPA air filter (cost about 9 bucks a month for a new filter--replace monthly or more).

3. Wash your sheets EVERY WEEK. More often if you can tolerate it. Wash your sheets in 130 degree water. If you do not have a washer that has water that hot, then place your sheets in a larg plastic bag, and freeze them in your freezer over night--this kills dust mites just as affectively.

4. Ensure your house is free of cockroaches--their fecal matter cuases nasal problems in adults and exasterbates allergies.

5. A good fast (water for fruit if you can't do water) is great for clearing sinuses. After 3 days, your mucus hardens and after 5 days, you'll feel better. I don't expect you to do this though cuase it's refuted by alot of folks. ALl I can say is that when I do it, it works. fast.

Try a Neti/Netti pot.....kind of a gross concept, but it works.....for any ear, nose or throat problems.

try adding some liquid goldenseal to the saline solution, if you think you have an infection....

I thought about getting one of those ever since I saw it on 6 Feet Under.

My sinuses give me headaches, I think.

I think you should talk to your doctor about different medication. You probabaly are alergic to some things. But you may have something else going on with your sinuses. Why do you have to take medication. Is there a proceedure that can fix what you got?

I can speak on behalf of Endo when I say to not try anything like Ear Candleing! Which removes wax from the ear. Maybe the doc can do something about the build up in your ears. But don't do the candleing! High possibility of it going very awry and getting earwax on your ear drum. Be careful with anything dealing with your ears!!!! He went through an awful and painful time with that.

But you can buy ear cleaning kits at the drug store. If you've never done it I definitely recommend it.

That would make for an interesting (and memorable) vacuum cleaner commercial! lol

I do share your frustration. Sinus troubles are terrible. I hope you can find something helpful to give you relief.

I WILL USE ALL CAPS IN SAYING THIS BECAUSE IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL OF YOU - DO NOT EVER DO EAR CANDLEING! I CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH! A DEAR ORGER DID THIS AND GOT HOT WAX ON HIS EARDRUM. THEY LITTERALLY HAD TO SCRAPE IT OFF, WHICH WAS VERY PAINFUL AND HE COULD HAVE LOST HIS HEARING. IT'S A FACT THAT EAR CANDLING DOES NOT CREATE ENOUGH OF A VACUUM TO ACTUALLY PULL WAX OUT.

I believe his story, obviously, but plenty of people have had good reports of it, too.

But I'd try the drops at night, then flush with warm water next morning. Get the kit!

I think you light a candle and let the smoke go in your ear. Something like that. It's a folk remedy but I don't like the idea of fire and my ear in combination with one another lol

No, no. It's not like that lol

The candle is lite on the other end and the suction in the cone sucks out the wax.

Little do most people realize that the residue that is then found in the candle is not actually ear wax, it's the candle itself.

So basically, there is no proof that it actually works.

I believe the basics of the procedure is when one lies on one's side and inserts a specially-made candle into the ear canal. Then the candle is lit and, as the the wick burns down, it creates a suction which allegedly extracts wax from the inner ear.

nod

And plenty of proof of the damage it can cause.
