Victorian. Like, I love the house in the movie 'Pracital Magic'.

Or, this one:

I would love it to have 11 ft ceilings, cozy formal and family rooms, 3-4 bedroom suites, a greenhouse, gardens...

Near the water, but also within walking distance of the heart of the village. A happy place. A place where having locks on the doors is just a suggestion.

Ok, I do like neat old houses as well, but I can't help but think about all the work they need.

I love all the cool details they usually have...like antique glass doorknobs. I really would love to start collecting those.

I LOVE those doorknobs! It's what I appreciate about these houses so much. Everything is something to look at. nod I even want antique dishes and flatware to match.

And, the repair/maintainance...oh, man, yeah...but, in my dream, my house never needs it! biggrin

I love Thomas Kinkade's paintings and when I was a little girl, I used to tell my mama that I would love to live in a cottage like the ones in his paintings. I would still love to be in a place like that, but only for weekends or something like that. Somewhere in SoCal on the coast would be a nice place to live during the week.

Some more that I like:

Nice peaceful weekend get aways from stressful situations. cloud9

my current apartment is somewhat close to my dream home. all i'd really need are a few things:

1) a place with a view (i have a killer view of the mpls skyline from my apartment)

2) a porch or a balcony

3) somewhere relatively off the beaten path, yet close enough to places to go to (i live downtown, but in a really weird spot--i live on a street that's in the middle of nothing and everything)

MIGUELGOMEZ

I want a huge house just so that all my friends can come and stay with me on the weekends.

I have this weird thing for houses. I can spend all day going out and looking at them. Kind of "window shopping". As you may know I live in the South Bay of the San Francisco Bay area and there are sooooo many beautiful homes around. WOODSIDE, LOS GATOS, SARATOGA. We have tons of VICTORIAN homes, Eichler homes.
Do you all remember the estate they used in DYNASTY. Well it really wasn't in Denver. It's here in Woodside. It's called the Filloli Mansion. South of San Francisco.

if in the city, i'm happy with a nice, semi-spacious pre-war apartment with good sunlight, good water pressure and good location.

As a pre-war-apartment-dweller, I love that you specify the water pressure bit. lol thumbs up!

Same here, the only thing I'd add is that I would like a big swanky bathroom. In fact, if I could add a big swanky bathroom -- huge soaking tub, beautiful modern fixtures, mult-head (ie. multi-person) shower, heated floor and towel rack -- to my current apartment as part of a master bedroom suite with a walk-in closet, and replace the carpet with hardwood floors, add a fresh coat of paint. . . I can't see why I'd need better/more. I like my funky old building, and the location is great.

Oh, I'd also like decent water pressure, though. lol

While there's a lot I like about my apartment and KNOW I wouldn't find better for the tiny little price I pay, I am feeling a need for a change and all I can think about wanting are hardwood floor, higher ceilings, more sunlight and a pimped out bathroom. lol

Oh, and I'll take the cleaning staff as well!
