i used to watch it all the time as a kid. loved it.

and it has the single greatest theme song to a tv show in all of history. one time i was at a party, and was smoking out with some friends, and had it stuck in my head. being high, i started singing it, and damned if people didn't start doing the clap and a guy joined in on the "fish don't fry" part and doing the back up.

i should get the dvds.

I never get tired of it, its like an addiction lol I swear, some of the 90's so-called big sitcoms seem more dated to me than this show.

I like the fact that all of them were obscure prior to that show.

Florence(Marla) was a housewife.

George(Sherman) was a postman.

Helen(Roxie) was a part of the Negro ensemble company.

And the MOST shocking(to me) was Weezy AKA Ms.Isabel Sanford(My FAVE character).

She was a chorus line/dancer who was one of the girls who danced around in old short videos of Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Big Joe Turner.

Remember them? The shimmy sham honeys, who would've thought of it? lol of course, not to mention she has a long history of broadway.

And she's still the only black actress to win an Emmy for a leading role in a comedy. She was not expecting to win, so she was smackin' on some cheese when she got up to the podium.

Wasn't Isabel like ten years older than Sherman or something like that?

Pizzat

The show alwyas reminds me of winter for some reason. Maybe because of that picture they put up of the bare trees during the ending credits.

And does anyone remember the episode where they threw George in the clink because they thought he was out looting and he asked the one dude why he was out stealing and the dude's reply I don't remember word for word. But the way it was delivered was the classic white ideal of what a brotha from the street talks like. You can just see the director telling the guy to "put a little bit more jive in it". The dude is almost doing a Marvin Gaye strut while he's talking about how hard it is to feed his family. It's atrocious, wonderful and funny all at the same time.

Well, its Norman Leer's vision.

But I think the Jeffersons is more loose than Good Times, which seemed SO pretentious & calculated @ some points.

Ooh,I'm getting behind neutral I still haven't gotten Season Five.I have seasons 1-4 though. This is one of my all-time favorite shows. The early episodes are the best.In the 80s,the show lost something although it was still very funny.
