My condolences if you did indeed lose a limb, btw. well seeing as how I have over a 100lbs to lose and stopped drinking soda, started walking and eating better it wasn't hard. And no I didn't lose a limb, just fat and water. Well, good for you. I have no idea what you look like or how much weight you feel you need to lose...I just know that 6lbs is a lot of weight to lose in a week. But I suppose it's mostly water weight that comes off at the beginning.

Besides this thread was suppose to encourage people who are trying to lose weight, not joke about it.

At the end of week two, Steph seems to be doing the best. I still have healthier eating habits though so I'm not giving up.

Ex-Moderator | JustErin said: HereToRockYourWorld said: You think soda is healthier than fruit juice? No. Both are bad. Fruit juice if pure juice with no additives and in small quantities (6 oz in a serving) is still good for you. It's not good if you guzzle it all day. |

But I am addicted to Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi.

Some doctors are blaming juice, even the no suger stuff, for childhood obesity. They're saying lay off the juice. Fruit juice is packed with carbs. It depends what kind of diet your on, though. If your just eating more healthily and and not a nazi about carbs you can drink some juice. But don't you like water?

It's good for you in small quantities, as I said. A small 6 oz glass of juice (less than a cup) per day is good for the vitamins and such, but you're actually missing the fiber and other goodies that you'd get from eating a piece of fruit. Too much juice is just lots of added sugar (which means calories!) and you can't use the extra benefit of the vitamins once you've reached your 'cap' for the day. Water is best for drinking all day if you're trying to lose weight, that's all. |

I'm on the late freight as usual.
It's a struggle I know, diets always work until you come off of them then you gain all you lost plus more. I've given up on them completely. I've started applying the things I've learned over the years to my daily life style. It's been hard, it can be expensive sometimes but I'm adapting. I always keep the 5 a day in mind (2 fruits/3 vegetables) mininum, with the goal of 7/day. I stay away from all sweet drinks, including fruit juices since they are loaded with calories. One morning I went to Winchells donut shop, I thought, I'd just get a small cup of freshed squeezed orange juice, no harm, it's healthy. Well they squeeze the juice in front of you, the person when through at least 10 oranges before there was enough juice for one small cup of juice. I was horrified with the realization, with a supposed limit of 3 fruits a day, that's more than 3 days worth, not including everything else I'd be eating that day. The Food Network has helped me a lot, now I roast fresh vegetables everyday, no canned, sometimes frozen when I'm in a hurry, but roasting is convenient just pop them in the oven, go do something else for about an half hour maybe a little more and they're done. I'm trying to learn to eat more Medittraean style. Slowly but surly I'm coming to grips that fast food is the enemy. And excercise is a B, but it knows it's worth it *sigh*. It's not really BAD for you, it's just not calorie-free, so like anything, if you're trying to keep your calories down you can't have a ton of it. And as Carrie said, the vitamins are good, but your body can only use a given amount of any water-soluable vitamin in a day and will just excrete the rest. It's not like you'll store up vitamin C for a rainy day if you drink a gallon of orange juice. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Ivy I have found something that has been a lifesaver at the grocery store. Hillshire Farms offers salad fixings. They are about $2.50 a piece and all you have to do is add the salad mix. It is less than 300 calories and are quite yummy. They come offer 5 different kinds. so for less than $20 bucks you can eat a healthy lunch. I've have 1 with a some fruit and water and it fills me up until I get home to eat dinner. I've dropped 3lbs over the last week. Just Call Me Afrochick

I only had the realization recently myself. It's b/c of all the sugar - natural sugars of the fruit or added sugars. I've had to moderate my juice & take it WAY down, I was sabotaging myself before. But this week I'm sick, so I'm guzzling it b/c I'm really not eating much at all

Time to push this back up. At the end of the third week going into four, I have lost two pounds. Not a lot but I am happy nonetheless. I am not nearly pushing myself hard enough on working out but I have been on my elliptical four out of the last seven days.
