I saw a psychologist a few times. It helped to talk to someone who was not directly involved and who just listened without passing judgment. Sometimes just talking out loud about crap makes you actually ingest what you are feeling. It did for me anyway.

Overall, I'd say it helped get the ball rolling in regards to dealing with a lot of stuff that I needed to deal with.

Well anyways.

My computer has a 'virus that could not be repaired' says (I think it was Norton).

Now what?

i like the idea of therapy, but it's never worked out for me. i think i have bad luck in choosing therapists, kinda like murphy brown and receptionists. i tried getting one in new york and i wound up with a scary woody allen-ish guy who would sweat uncontrollably and had lobster red skin like he took too-hot showers. plus he'd sit there and shake and stare at me when i tried to talk abou tthings and i never knew when i was supposed to quit talking. it was creepy.

then i tried it again a couple of years ago and the therapist turned out to be a total new age shaman dude, and he wanted me to read a book on crystal healing and discuss it at our sessions. WTF?!

if therapists were normal, i might go to one. wacky

I'm sure a normal therapist would advise you to respond to org notes, especially those that offer an olive branch. neutral

I don't think my therapist was very helpful. She said a lot of nice things about me and then bascially said she didn't understand why I was seeing her. She said I could keep coming to her, but didn't think I needed it. I never knew what to say.

That's weird. She should be able to see that even though a person has a healthy way of reasoning about their problems, it doesn't mean they're not depressed and in need of help.

Actually, my therapist did something along those lines. I woke up one week and realized that everything was broken. It's hard to describe it, but I knew that something was wrong. He didn't help much.

I eventually found religion as alot of desperate folks do, and that seemed to help more. lol

MARY: Don't psychoanalyze me! I pay a doctor for that!

ISAAC: Hey, you call that guy that you talk to a doctor? I mean, you don't get suspicious when your analyst calls you at home at three in the morning and weeps into the telephone?

MARY: Alright, so he's unorthodox.

For me, it's like going to the gym. You know, you go to the gym, you work out your physical thing. And (I look at it like) the mind garage.

As with any profession, there are good and bad therapists. A good one will help you get here:

I think Mrs Tait has better idea of who she is than before she came to Dr Yang. ...Who her friends are, or are not. Who is husband, lover, sister, mother. What are her needs, her limits, her gifts. What are her innermost feelings. May not know all answers, but has better idea, no?

In 4th grade I wrote a poem and the words at the end of two verses didn't rhyme so when I had to read it aloud I kept mumbling those lines. The teacher made me see the school counseler b/c they thought I needs speech therapy. I was just embarrassed I couldn't think of a word that rhymed and made sense in the context of the poem.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
