I love Lawrence Durrell....he's on my re-read list. Along with Gibbon's "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire".

I saw the Gibbon too! lol

And Isak Dinesen. mushy

And what are those three black bound volumes to the right of James? Is that Robert Musil?

No. It's the damn "Remembrance of Things Past" I can't for the life of me get through. Someone's got to come up with a Cliff Notes for Proust.

A former teacher of mine who recently passed away had decided to work his way through Proust not long ago.

I think it did him in! razz

I find a good bookshelf very sexy...you can tell so much about a person, not just with from the subject matter of the books but the way things are (dis)organized, hard or softcovers, old or new...my ex-boyfriend's roommate had the most awesome bookshelf...drool

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
