hey Beatles fans! Julie Taymor's "Across the Universe" ... this looks I N C R E D I B L E !

A romantic musical told mainly through numerous Beatles songs performed by the characters. A young man from Liverpool comes to America during the Vietnam War to find his father. He winds up in Greenwich Village, where he falls in love with an American girl who has grown up sheltered in the suburbs. Together they experience the sweeping changes of America in the late 60's.

Genres: Musical/Performing Arts and Romance

Release Date: September 28th, 2007 (wide)

MPAA Rating: PG-13 for some drug content, nudity, sexuality, violence and language.

Distributors: Sony Pictures Releasing

Starring: Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Sturgess, Martin Luther, Eddie Izzard excited , T.V. Carpio

So, Julie Taymor, for those of you who don't recognize her name, is the brilliant director who did "Titus", "Frida", and the awesome "The Lion King" on Broadway.

Ah, I did love Titus. I've refused to watch Frida though, but that's purely to spite my brother-in-law, who loves that movie and is a complete and utter knob of epic proportions.

Loved the visuals in the trailer, but some of the arrangements of the songs sounded a bit iffy to my ears.

It looks wiggy.

The movie's website lists Bono as an actor, playing the character "Dr. Robert"...

And that "Liverpudlian" guy's accent is very, very odd.

I sense that it may make more sense when stoned.

falloff

frida is not as good as titus, but still very much worth seeing. EXCELLENT performances and direction

what should the setting be? 80-90's? what are the characters? what's the worst that happens, what's the best? and.....

what songs/music?

of course it would be a young FEMALE ambitious, sometimes evil, protagonist.
