That, and back then people were saying "moted", as in, "Oh he was SO moted!" (demoted)  yep hella is definitely a west coast thing more specifically even i think, a bay area thing and i 'hella'still say 'moted' almost on a daily basis but we say it as 'molded' as in molded bread- green and just yuck  meaning someone is wrong/embarrased/just outta pocket what have u  I never heard "molded" before.  I'm sure the one people used to say in the early 90s when I moved there was "moted" though because I remember asking this girl what it meant. Plus, it's said in that really California way of saying o's. I had to get used to that, and people made fun of me for my Minnesota accent.
