I think it might be cold enough for the old throw-hot-water-in-the-air-and-watch-it-freeze-before-it-hits-the-ground trick.

Do you tell them to SHUT THE HELL UP!?

Cause I would.

Yes I do. biggrin

I liken the severe MN cold to childbirth (even though I haven't experienced that yet. It's just what I've heard. biggrin ):

You can't imagine that feeling again no matter how hard you try. You knew it was the most painful thing ever while you were experiencing it, but after the fact it's all hazy. It's your body's natural way of imposing a sort of amnesia so you'll actually consider having kids again. If not, the world wouldn't be populated if women were able to remember it all. lol

It has to be something like that with the cold. hmmm I mean, people move to MN from California! And stay! It has to be some magick spell the state puts on you and forget all about how bad it was so you'll stay.

That is so the damn truth. lol but when I went back into labor with my son it all came flooding back, eek thats it I remember now...

All the same, don't think I will be moving to Minne any time to soon.... think I'll stick to my yearly visits! lol

I didn't see anyone today. lol
But they're out there in 15 degree weather, for sure. I always see people running around the lakes and there's often the windboarding peeps. That sport is SO WEIRD! Gliding across a frozen lake with a sail on a surfboard with runners. It seems so dangerous!

okay at times like this i remind myself why i keep moving back to minnesota:

1. changing seasons. there really is nothing like the feeling of different seasons. spring, summer, fall and winter. sure, winter may be challenging but it's still lovely in a clear, cold ice crystal kind of way.

2. affordable lifestyle. the cost of living here is such that a person can actually live pretty well and still save money. housing, food, the essentials -all affordable.

3. water. no shortage of that here! thanks to the fact that this was once underwater, we have a limestone/sandstone bedrock with tons of aquifers running through it. anywhere you dig a hole in minnesota you have a well!

4. happening art scene. anytime you trap people inside for weeks at a time they either go mad and eat each other or develop their creative side. fortunately for us it's mostly the latter!

i'll post more when i think of them....

I've never experienced cold like that. I can't even imagine. I don't think I could take it. My lungs start to burn like hell if it's colder than 20 degrees.

Even with normal lungs, doesn't it HURT to breathe air that cold?
