Inside the Org's Studio presents.... Aerogram

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the second edition of a ground-breaking series of intimate interviews with legendary Orgers. Post masters, fake tracklists geniuses, multiusernamed wonders, stellar debaters... we will meet them and quizz them.. so we can all wonder at their creativity and intellect and be inspired to be better posters!

Tonight's guest is the incomparable Aerogram. At nearly 2,500 posts, Aerogram is no stranger to the Prince.org community and is known for his wonderfully dry humor and tremendous intellect.

Fellow orgers, please welcome the brilliant and wonderful... Aerogram!

(thunderous applause, whistles and general cheering)

It's nice to have you here today, Aerogram... you are looking fit and ready for a stimulating discussion...

I guess the first question that everyone has for you is how did you come up with the name, Aerogram? I have always thought that it was a comment about the potential for spreading your message to the far corners of the world over the internet. Is this so, or is there an even deeper meaning to your name?

We apologize for the interruption, ladies and gentlemen... it appears that Aerogram has had to step out for a moment... the interview will commence shortly.

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you very much for turning the table on this ever so humble interviewer. My username has a deep meaning that I think resonates on a Jungian level. Aero means "air", and "gram" means what we all know it means -- a sign or message. In other words, my name means "airy message".

So... now we know that you go commando, as does your humble interviewer. Can you tell the audience some of the reasons why you go commando?

You have been known to write some very good song parodies... have you ever had musical or theatrical aspirations or are you just singularly talented?

I feel judeo-christian values have an emasculating effect. As a protest, I choose not to wear underwear. It also tend to bring me more attention when I'm out cruising.

Both! I've written a couple of "plays", including "Whose Wife is it anyway?", "Who's a friend of that Virginia - woof!", "A Soldier's Lay" and many others.

You always take a very neutral stance on issues and seem to be very compassionate about things while also demonstrating a passion for issues. How do keep yourself so balanced and brilliant?

Without a doubt, Glen or Glenda. It took a lot of nerve just to get the financing, and even more to get it distributed.

I have to agree with you on that... what do you think of the rumors that Stephen Spielberg is a member of NAMBLA?

I have heard rumors that you might very well have multiple org accounts that allow you to indulge other sides of your personality that you do not feel comfortable showing under your Aerogram account... is there any truth to these rumors?

You were the creator of the illustrious "thousand post club" here on the org, but you have let it slip into obscurity. Was there a personal reason for abandoning your club or was it just too time consuming?

I've had my moments of imbalance and sheer idiocy, but I'm very charitable toward myself and others. Let's face it, nobody's perfect, and the closest you can get to perfection is to look for the inevitable lapses in judgment while you strive to do your best. And have fun... It's always a balance betwenn thoughtfullness and spontaneity. Which is a pretty good definition of creativity.

What should I do? Swear on a stack of the Complete Works of Albert Camus that I have but one username? I have not used two usernames since early 2001 or even 2000. It was something I did for fun when I was just starting out, to experiment a bit. In each case, I immediately came out with my true identity right after I discarded the second one. Not doing so would have rendered the whole exercise pointless, like a Candid Camera segment where no one tells the victims "Smile.. You're on Candid Camera!"

So no.

Do you feel that the control and thought that you put into your posts on the internet is helpful in thinking about your interactions in "real life" with others? In other words, do you feel that having the ability to think about issues before responding on the internet actually helps you develop a similar strategy in dealing with people in the outside world?

The Club was well-liked. It was a joke, something to laugh at ourselves. Unfortunately, it became embroiled in controversy.

Next question.

Tough one.. I don't think there's any one event, not even the time I ghostwrote Norman Mailer's novel. Those who know me understand why I feel at ease with the written word. That's all I'll say.

Is it your love of literature and writing that have convinced you to make the General Discussion forum your home here on the org, or is it just that there is not that much to say about Prince that hasn't been said 85,486,259 times?

I think posting is a good resource and model for socializing in general. It allows you to try a few things that you might not have the chance to do in real life, and see what works and what doesn't. Like.. I've never used a uzi or a fishslap before. It's great.

How do you respond to those who claim that "emoticons" are tools for a weak mind?
