Pfft, and what culture would that be? The one where you drink yourselves to death? talk to the hand

At least we are doing something manly to pass time with, Swedish men do nothing else than hold hands together and dance around en midsommarstång.

Yeah, reckless drinking is really manly... thumbs up!

Please excuse me, I'd like to return to my midsommar dance now. wave

Oooh, that juicy midsommarstång, so long and erect. drool jerkoff

Wow, so much 'cultural' hostility on this thread. eek

Imago, go to Paris, France. In between Bonn and Salzburg go and visit Prague. With paris one of the most beautiful european cities.

Check out an interrail ticket. For 400 euros you can travel for 3 weeks through many countries. cool

Actually Between Bonn and Salzburg, I'm going to be going to :

1) Heidelburg
2) Munich & Bavaria(the Neuschwanstein castle(sp?)

I'll look up Prague to see if I can fit it in. I'm trying not to spend more than 4-5k on the entire trip. sigh

I think interrail is only for people under the age of 27, or something like that.

I GUARANTEE you that tyou will find Parque 100 times better than all the south of Germany/Bavaria. That part of Germany can most be compared to the south of the US, so I would think about that if I were you, BUT... I don't want to tell you what you have to do of course... HOWEVER...lol... those bavarians... lol

Prague is beautiful nod. Neither Munich or Heidelberg are that special IMO. If you wanna visit one city in Southern Germany, I'd recommend Nürnberg. Salzburg is not all that either, Vienna or Graz are far more interesting IMO.

rolleyes I am not talking about nightlife, but a beautiful small city with a lot of flair. Munich is totally boring btw, so why yawn at Nürnberg? lol . However the first German city I'd recommend is Berlin of course, but we are talking Southern Germany.

I wasn't talking nightlife either, but really, what's so special about Nürnberg? Munich definitely's got a lot more to offer, also culturally.....but people can't seem to stand the Bavarians because they are proud of what they have.....I sense that almost everywhere in Germany. Also, around Munich is a lot prettier than anywhere else in Germany, including Nürnberg.....

I can't be bothered to read the whole thread ... have you figured it out yet? biggrin

My first reaction was that if you are going to try to figure out the British rail timetables and prices, then good luck to you! ... you're on your own - I've lived here all my life and still don't get it.

Then the more charitable me thought I could perhaps help. If you want me to contact the rail company here, let me know and I'll get your questions answered.

When are you coming over?

I would not - I repeat NOT, go into that Chunnel.

If I was an international terrorist, it would be high on my list of things to blow-up.

I mean... It's a TUNNEL that is UNDER WATER.

At least if your plane gets blown-up, you'll either be vaporised in an instant or pass-out from the lack of oxygen up in the stratosphere. Death would be pretty instantaneous. Now, imagine a TUNNEL, UNDER WATER, filling up gradually with the contents of the English Channel.

It's fairly cheap to fly from England to France anyway.

A friend of mine worked on that project. The rail one with the cars - is that Eurostar or Eurotunnel? I get confused.

Anyway, he told me that their action plan, in event of fire, is that the carriage which has the fire will be blocked off at either end. In other words, stuff the people who are in there - they won't even try to get them out eek

No chunnel for me either!

BA are doing some cheap flights - I just booked flights to Belgium £44 each way, but now we're paying higher taxes on airfare it's not the bargain it used to be.

www.ba.com

www.easyjet.com are another one to try - you'll probably be able to fly cheaper than the rail journey would be.

www.railtrack.co.uk has details of British rail timetables/prices.

I have no problems with the Bavarians at all, they are very nice people and I feel quite at home everytime I am in Munich. IMO Nürnberg has a lot more flair, that's all. But it's all good. As our tastes are so different not only when it comes to music, but also when it comes to travelling we hopefully will never meet biggrin .

The best beer I ever tasted was in a tavern in Heidelberg. And it was served in a huge glass. Also bought a nice pewter flask at a shop. I loved the place.

I bought a lot of Prince CDs there back in the day. I don't remember a lot else about the city which brought me to the conclusion that there is not that much to remember lol. But I think it was that city that had the streets numbered or named with letters instead of street names like every other German city hmmm.
