dangerously cold

The windchill is currently -25° F. This means frostbite happens within less than 15 minutes.

Wind Chill / Frostbite Guidelines

30° F or greater. Chilly. Generally unpleasant
15° F to 30° F Cold. Unpleasant.
0° F to -15° F Very cold. Very unpleasant
- 0° F to - 20° F Bitter cold. Frostbite possible
- 20° F to - 60° F Extremely cold. Frostbite likely. Outdoor activity becomes dangerous.
- 60° F or less Frigidly cold. Exposed flesh will freeze within 30 seconds.

It's only supposed to get worse here over the weekend.

Why do I live here? fit

Yeah, I'll have to make a getaway every year at this time. razz

It's funny though because whenever I complain about the cold anywhere, everyone always says, "Hey you have no right to complain. You're from MN! You should be used to it."

Yes I do. biggrin

I liken the severe MN cold to childbirth (even though I haven't experienced that yet. It's just what I've heard. biggrin ):

You can't imagine that feeling again no matter how hard you try. You knew it was the most painful thing ever while you were experiencing it, but after the fact it's all hazy. It's your body's natural way of imposing a sort of amnesia so you'll actually consider having kids again. If not, the world wouldn't be populated if women were able to remember it all. lol

It has to be something like that with the cold. hmmm I mean, people move to MN from California! And stay! It has to be some magick spell the state puts on you and forget all about how bad it was so you'll stay.

That's because other than the weather for a few months of the year, it's absolutely lovely. mushy

See, I complain in the cold, but I love my home too. My wanting to leave has more to do with a sense of adventure and wanting new experiences than wanting to get away.
I think I'll always come back here. But I suppose I won't know until I actually DO leave. lol
