Good question. confuse Coins go in my piggy bank, and paper money (to the extent I use it -- I prefer Visa or American Express) goes in my wallet.

Further, I rarely have a $50 bill, because they're rather uncommon. If I have one, I either got it from a bank branch (as opposed to an ATM), or, less often, got it in change when spending a $100 bill. And I don't use hundreds often either.

I really have no idea how a $50 bill ended up on my desk. I guess that's why I was so happy to find it. smile

I wanted to give her my Texas Instruments TI-85 graphing calculator. Back when I was in high school -- early to mid 1990s -- the TI-85 was a serious geek status symbol. It was the Rolls-Royce of calculators. And it served me (and my brother, who later borrowed it for a few years) well.

But no, her professor is insisting upon a non-graphing scientific calculator. rolleyes

I should have dug into Matt’s Collection of Random Cool Stuff(TM) and given her this:

The Hewlett Packard HP-35... the world’s first scientific calculator, introduced in 1972. geek The HP-35 I have is of special interest because it’s an early one with a bug that later got fixed... typing “2.02 ln e^x” would give you 2 instead of 2.02.

My grandfather bought it when it first came out... the price was $395, or in today’s money, over $1,800 (!). By contrast, the calculator I bought Jess does more, lacks the bugs, and cost a whopping $10.95.
