I'm so horribly bored I'm in Penang, Malaysia for 3 days. I arrived this morning at 10am, it's 2:30pm now and I'm already bored. I've been here maybe 7 times before and there's nothing new to see. I've been in my (shit) hotel room much of the time, only coming out to eat and chat on yahoo with Mon. I miss her terribly too. Please, and I know this is very self-indulgent and needy, do whatever it takes to entertain me and lighten my mood. Please?

I was not trying to entertain you. By rather, social commentary and a sarcastic statement on your situation.

I would be very disappointed in getting a turkey card at easter. But that's just me. There is always the Macaroni Necklace. Cures boredom with a quickness! Christian Zombie Vampires

Thanks for all the ideas, none of which I even entertained.
I'm now back in Bangkok and my computer is broken. Also, it's no surprise to have just learned more about how Thailand's superwondermazingly gorgeous new Suvarnabhumi airport is already falling apart, with cracks in the runways, leaking pipes, lost luggage, not nearly enough toilets, and flight attendants getting groped by builders. Some airlines, including Thai Airways, are ready to move domestic flights back to the old Don Muang airport. Apparently though, according to experts it would be an air traffic nightmare. Additionally, 45 million US dollars are needed for repairs, the airport already having cost 4 billion, one would presume owing to the world's tallest control tower (ousted PM Thaksin Chinawatra's doing, no doubt) and the main building being the second largest in the world. Just try finding a toilet for the disabled though. And if that isn't enough, some flights just a few days ago circled the airport until their fuel ran out due to ongoing repairs being made on runways, and had to land at a nearby US B52 base. Amazing Thailand indeed! Where's the man that was largely behind the actual construction of this 40 years in planning disaster? Drinking Johnny Walker with his mates in the UK or US, counting the billions of baht he no doubt made by sharing all the building contracts with his cronies and cutting corners at every opportunity. They built one of the largest, most expensive airports in the world on a swamp.

so why were you away? visa stuff again?? Thanks. No wonder our plane stopped a couple of miles from the main building and we had to take a bus back. 11 of the 50 odd gates are closed. Yes, a visa run. That'll all be over soon though, hopefully. The rule now is that I show I have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account (10 thousand something US dollars) and I can get a marriage visa for 1 year that I can renew each year and don't need to leave the country for. They always change the rules though, even during the same government's term in power. I've just been sticking with 2 month tourist visas for a while though while I've been taking in what's happened with the coup.

and what will you have to do besides the money bit to actually get the marriage visa?

Or do you want to keep British citizenship just in case? Why don't you just move to the United States?
