Virus Protectors

Which type to you use? Are there good free ones to download or do
I have to pay for a good one? HELP.
BTW, I caught a virus, had to restart the computer from scratch and
lost the virus protection that came with the computer originally (Norton), so
now I'm in the market.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I've got Norton System Works (which is really easy to work with) and Spysweeper.

Who is your ISP? You might get free protection from them...

obsessed

I use AVG Free and really like it so far...have had it about 4 months...
before that I had Norton, but when it expired, I couldn't seem to download
it again for whatever reason.

The only thing I notice is it slows everything down a bit when it's scanning,
but then maybe Norton did too and I just don't remember.

Anyway, for a free program, I think it works great...it's caught viruses for
me 3 times now in that 4 months.

I ended up buying Trend Micro Antivirus plus antispyware...the salesman recommended I buy Spysweeper also, but I only bought the Trend.
He recommended Trend over Norton or Macafee, said that those other two slow
down the computer...whatever, I hope I bought the right one. At least I'm protected once again.
