OK. why would you commute to a job that pays the same when you can work for a job that pays better and is close to home? Seems like a no brainer to me. Christian Zombie Vampires

I'm currently making about $9.00 an hour, so I really can't comment.

Personally, unless the Paralegal once makes you that much happier, go with the closest commute.
The extra drive gets depressing over time.

What does work mean to you? What is the difference in personal satisfaction you will get out of doing each job? Do you want to continue being a paralegal because you enjoy it, or because it is the career you've chosen and you feel that it is what you should do? Are you passionate about the work you do?
For me, the work that I do is what I need to do to pay my bills and have the life I want. I am fortunate to work in an environment that I love, supporting a cause that is personally relevant to me, but I am not defined by my work, it's just what I do. I moved 4 months after I started this job to eliminate a 45 minute commute. I now walk two blocks to work and have an extra 1.5 hours of time for my life. That said, if it were me, and actual work between the 2 jobs could be boiled down to a series of tasks in 2 different environments, I'd take the one with more money and more time for me. You, my friend, will make the choice that best serves you and your needs at this time. Hey you!!! Yeah, I've commuted to San Francisco before. The last time was a stretch of 4 years. It really didn't bother me because I took CAL-TRAIN and I either slept or read. The extra drive gets depressing over time. You're right. I tried driving to San Francisco for a while and it got old. I switched to CAL-TRAIN and really liked it. I did that for about 4 years. I have to stay within the legal arena. I really really enjoy it. I'm used to criminal law but the job in San Francisco lets me expand my horizons and get into civil law. I'm a Paralegal. The job in San Francisco is a Paralegal position. The job close to home is an Exec Admin. Asst. M Which is better? Is the Exec Admin of a lower status? I guess what I meant to say is.... If you have an offer close to home that pays more, why would you not go for that? Christian Zombie Vampires

go with the one you will love, sometimes a commute is worth it if you don't mind being there and if the job is something that you want to. Also don't base your decision on other people's experience with the " demanding supervisors" because they ( the supervisors) may or may not react to you in that way. Your experience may be somthing totally different.

Let's see if I get the job first. M Well, I just took a new job and my commute is longer, but I LOVE the job so it seems totally worth it to me. My old job had a very short commute but I resented even that becasue I was not happy with the job. If you get to spend your day doing something you like, the commute will be worth it. If you take the job closer but end up not liking it as much as paralegalizing () then you might regret not enduring the commute. IMO. Good luck! VOTE....EARLY
