My grandfather passed away.

I lost my grandfather last night @ 8:20pm. He had been in the hospital with pneumonia and recovered through that. Then the last few days he was in waiting for some more tests, his heart and kidneys started giving out. I am sad that he is gone, but I know he is in a far better place than what we have here.

hug Sorry to hear about that! I read your other post where you said that your grandfather was sick. It's hard losing a grandfather, I remember what it felt like when I lost mine.

My grandfather was sick in the hospital, and my mom and I went to see him. What's funny is that he kept looking at me; it was like he knew it was the last time he was going to see me alive. I was last to leave the room (my mom had already left), and the last thing I said to my grandfather was, "I love you." He said, "I love you too." Then he said something like, "They're waiting for you" (meaning my mom). I was very happy that I told my grandfather that I loved him, because the next time my mom went to see him, he was pretty much out of it, and a few days after that, he passed away. I still miss that guy, 16 years later. bawl bawl

Hang in there. rose

As an addendum to this story: after the funeral, my brother, cousin and I went to drop my grandmother off at her apartment. My grandmother had a big window, and we were looking outside. All of a sudden, we saw this HUGE rainbow that was really beautiful. It had double arches, and the colors on it were fluorescent. It was a rainbow like I had never seen before. My brother saw the rainbow and said something like, "Look, it's grandpa saying hello to us." What's funny is that as soon as my brother said it, we could see the rainbow going away. The ends of the rainbow were disappearing (kind of coming together) until it was completely gone. We knew then that our grandfather was saying hello and giving us a sign that he had crossed over successfully, and that he was okay. It was something that I will never forget.

I beleive that even when people die, they are still around us, and sometimes they give us signs to let them know that they have not forgotten us.

It seems that some people wait for their loved ones to leave before they let themselves slip away. I believe ther are circumstances when we do know we're going to die. What a blessing you got to say "I love you" and hear it back from him. We never stop missing the good ones. hug

So many thanks to all of you who have sent your condolences. Now if I could just find a way to stop the tears that out of now where seem to fall without warning. The viewing is today and the funeral is tomorrow. So I know the next 2 days will be tough. My grandfather was a wonderful man whose soul was beautiful and I know he's with Jesus in Heaven, and yet while that makes my heart happy, it is still filled with so much sorrow.
