ADVERTIZING PLOYS!! My family and I are always having heated arguements, albeit freindly ones, regarding whether advertizing ploys and schemes are genuine or just that, designed 2 make u buy companies products, or services, either on TV, online, and/or in the printed media!!
Regarding some products and services, yes, I do agree with my family that certain companies do use advertizing tactics and ploys just 2 make u buy their products and services, but then I also agree that certain advertizing campaigns are genuine!! Anyway, have any of u guys fallen victim of dishonest or cunning advertizing schemes and tactics?? Do any of u agree or disagree that all advertizing is nothing but lies and sly schemes just 2 make u buy certain products and services?? Have u ever brought anything that was so hyped up and found that it just didnt match the advertizing?? Just curious, thats all [Edited 12/3/06 3:33am]

Although my girlfriend is an advertising manager for a newspaper, I'll be first to shoot her between the eyes when the revolution comes.

I'm sure she finds that comforting. |

I'm sure she finds that comforting. I'm kidding. I was thinking of that Chris Rock sketch where he was lampooning the racist mindset of the old black man who married a white woman saying "When the revolution come, when it reach here, I kill my craka woman! Kill my craka kids too!"

I haven't personally, but I almost did when I was younger. A tourist agency called me once to tell me I had "won" a free trip to Orlando, and all I had to do was pay for the travel fee. (I only live an hours drive to Orlando ). When I told her I could just drive, she told me the package requires me to fly.
That's when I more-or-less figured out it was a "discount package" they were trying to sell me, and I didn't exactly win anything but a deal--a decent deal I guess, but not exactly a prize.
