Drink driver knocks down my street light... would you have called the police?

To cut a long story short an old guy (in his 70's) has just driven his car into a street lamp outside my house. He is fine but didn't even know he had done it neutral

When I spoke to him you could smell the booze on his breath. He says he only had one! A car that stopped had said how they had followed him weaving on the road before the crash.

I got back in my house and was not too sure if I should pass his details to the police or not. Had he been in his 30's I would have not given it a second thought but due to his age I was not too sure what to do.

I did call the police in the end as that street light could just as easily been a person.

Would you have called the police or would you turn a blind eye due to his age? hmmm

a customer came into our office absolutely REEKING of alcohol once. he was going to be coming back in a bit to bring something we needed, so i debated about it and called the police when we showed up a couple hours later. there were TWO cars here in a matter of moments! the dude tried to evade the police by going around to the back of the building, but there is no exit there. they got him right in front of our office, and the guy PASSED the sobriety test!! the cop said she could smell it very strong on his breath, but since he passed they couldn't get him for that. however, he was driving on a suspended license so he spent the night in jail. now i have no problems calling the police on people that are driving drunk. i just think how i'd feel if they left my office and ran over a child when i could have possibly prevented it.

Agreed! Age shouldn't matter. Anyone who drives drunk and is caught should be reported to the police.

I hope you get run down by a drunk driver you retard.
If he was sober then he would have no problem passing a blow test and as a fine upstanding citizen i am sure he would not worry, however if he was over the limit then he should be off the road full stop.

Oh and to thedribbler.....do you fancy coming to the grave of my 18 year old cousin mowed down by a drink driver and never given the chance to have a real life? I am sure you would love to re-iterate those comments to me again as we stand and look at her headstone!

Call the police every time! What if this man had hit a person(s) or hit another vehicle(s)???? Would the damage have been any less because of his age??? NO!

If you get run over by a car, it does not matter the age of the person driving. If the person driving is older, younger, man, woman, etc.... it is not going to lessen the injuries or prevent death.

I feel extremely passionate about this subject. THERE IS NO LEGITIMATE REASON WHAT-SO-EVER to drive under the influence of Alcohol or any other controlled substance, EVER!!!!!
