As easily as it is to get data, I'm seeing ill informed orgers when info is a click away. Facts aren't debatable! Is it possible if you don't know about a topic to simply read about it before stating your opinion?? (Just a question)
[Edited 1/24/07 22:02pm] I understand what you're saying... But the source of facts can be questioned... the research can be mistrusted as having faulty data etc... On occasion, sure. Therefore, having more than one source for info is beneficial. For instance, polls and surveys can be distorted by how a question is asked and geographical area the poll is taken. If you page through an encyclopedia, the most current data available when the books were published is there. (past tense as those are now obsolete) There is information that is not debatable.....proven, well documented, historical accuracy.

why try to impose self expectations on others I completely understand websites are used as entertainment. I understand it can be too much work to seek out data. I think curiosity is becoming as obsolete as encyclopedias.(except for entertainment needs) Increasing my knowledge is less a self expectation than "force of habit". I don't think about it.

It could just as easily been "get your ass out of your head". That would have been a bit harder to physiologically expln... [Edited 1/25/07 20:42pm]

I do try and research on certain stuff, not always, but dependant on the thread topic I will.
I have studied a little about the History of Slavery in the US - certain historical areas of Religion - Racism - Modern day Slavery - Current War in Iraq etc.....plus I tend to study my own personal interests, WW2 and related topics (Geek spot.....German doctors where the first to connect certain Cancers to smoking.....Pre WW2..... ) Paranormal stuff, like Ghosts, Ufo's etc. Doesn't make me an expert on anything though !!! .........Gimme your Doughnut,,,,,,

I probably should have looked up the phrase.AS much information is readily available on the internet...you don't have to buy a book, go to the library etc. it's right in the computer.....there seems to be little effort to read up on a topic in some forums. NOT directed at any individual. Even if simple factual info is posted some orgers get defensive as though the poster wrote the article his/her self. Even if it's meant to inform.... that's all. You can never have too much information. [Edited 1/25/07 14:59pm] i'm sorry but this is too funny~! first you use an incorrect form of the expression 'get your head out of your ass' and then you admit to not having looked up the correct phrase, THEN you chastise folks for not doing their homework

There's not much point in reeling off facts unless you have an opinion about them. Anyone can do that. You can give information without having an opinion. For example, one orger thought carbon was in water and I explained it wasn't. There was no opinion to present. I posted Proust died at an early age and another orger stated : no that's not right. I looked it up and realized I had him confused with Keats. Facts can be FYI and educational without opinion or debate. [Edited 1/26/07 21:26pm]
