Did You Ever Feel Like You Just Didn't Fit In With "Corporate America"?

"Corporate America" meaning the working world. I sure feel like I don't fit in, and am wondering if I'm the only one who feels this way. Please tell me that I'm not alone here. lol boxed
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Yes.

All the time.

I feel like I'm feeding a system that will ultimately do away with the middle class.

I'm looking for ways out of it, but I need to maintain my current standard of living. lol

I did not fit in, always felt like an alien or like I was in someone else's body when I was at work. lol I could hardly have a conversation with anyone, my life was so different. (I wasn't making babies, wearing giant diamonds on my finger, going to the spa, or remodeling my kitchen). Glad I'm out of there.

there are all sorts of things -- teaching, freelance, etc. These things pay less (especially at the beginning) and involve more work than corporate life, I think. But at least you get your soul back. For me, I'd rather be poor and happy than living like a drone (well, I still live like a drone sometimes). I worked in offices for years.

Oh hell yes! I just got a promotion and all, but corporate America sucks. I'm fortunate to have a good boss and co-workers, even though the company I work for is internationally huge.

I'm not one for rules, long working hours, getting up early in the morning and bullshit politics. I'm not going to kiss anyone's ass or sleep with someone to get ahead.

I am working toward starting my own business and look forward to that day. it's time for me to make myself rich, not someone else's bottom line. And they don;t care about your.

Six years ago, I got laid off from a company three months after I bought my house. They knew I bought a house because I had to take a day off for closing. do you think they gave a shit how I got the mortgage paid when they axed me? Not a chance.

I've been in the game for almost 20 years. I always chose girls, music etc instead of studying so that kind put me on this path. I actually am in a great position. I'm allowed (within reason) to express myself and get things done.
My boss and the prez love me and I get the benefit of the doubt.

My experience and of the people I know has been there are always some sort of politics, restrictions and comprimise. No matter non profit or starting your own business. We need the money and someone else has got it !

I hear ya, I hate corporate America for the same reasons that you've listed. I would looooove to have my own business, and to tell my boss to kiss this booty!.

That's terrible that they laid you off so shortly after you had just bought a house. You're right, bosses don't care about you as a person. As long as you are there every day, not screwing around and getting your job done, that's all the care about. It's sad, really. disbelief
