FINALLY! Three years in the making my album is DONE.

As some of you may know, I have been working on a collaborative effort for an album that seems like it has taken FOREVER to get finished. But it is at last, completed, polished, and ready for release. Some of you may be asking “wasn’t this almost done like almost a year ago?” As some of you ended up submitting artwork to be considered for the album I was working on….which we ended up not using (more on that in a moment).

Upon the release of my last solo effort, I was already 4 songs into the next project, which was NOT solo (somehow I am already well into the next thing I am doing by the time the previous thing ends up getting released…go figure). Things were slow going , but we eventually had enough for a live show. We also started getting into remixing, which proved a challenge, but was very rewarding. And then released an EP of what we had so far. Then we decided to add vocals to some of the songs, again adding more complexity to what I was doing and to the sequencing and mixing the songs. I think this was the thing that made everything stand out and make the album seem warm and complete. Finally an opening track emerged and everything fell in place. I had asked you guys to submit in artwork, which my partner couldn’t decide on, so we didn't go with any of them. So, Album “Completed”.. Another EP finished for promo purposes and then because he didn’t want to get it mastered until there was interest and because we really didn't have the funds to do it ourselves...etc. It sat on my computer, finished and artless. We were “done” with it and I focused back on my solo work and the odd track here and there with my music partner.

Towards the end of last year, I came across an art submission that I had not seen before. It was radically different than the ones I had seen. It was submitted by a friend of ours a while back, I just hadn’t seen it. We both agreed that this would be the cover. And we both made an agreement to “go with the times” and release it online. That way, they would be in MP3 format and thus mastering and pressing for that matter wasn’t needed. We set a date for the release and had a date for the release party the day before. Then set the race to get everything in order. In the midst of all of this, we had a song featured on a compilation for The Big Chill (That festival I went to last year in Europe) and a mention on their front page, which was pretty freektastic. So, the last few weeks have been hairy and this was supposed to be out a week ago, but FINALLY got online yesterday!

If you wanna check it out or buy it, it’s here…

Oh and that Compilation is a disc for charity…

About our track…

Before I go, I wanna take some time to thank a few folks who helped, commented or submitted artwork ZOMBIEKITTEN, JUSTIN, BYRON, and PETER. Special thanks to ELEVEN who said some really good things about the music. There might be others I may have forgotten to mention. razz .

Thanks for reading this! It feels good to get this behind me and feel the release. I feel as though I have grown and gotten much better at my craft. I have learned a lot with this experience esp what it’s like to work with someone else who I don’t see eye to eye with. All of this will make my next solo effort fantastic, I hope.

I have mine... (thanks Bob!) and it is a wonderful ambient mix, full of dubby trance magic! The Fake Science website is great too, if you've not checked it out, and is (as of this writing) the only way you can get "Enter the Sound Capsule." For a mere $5, you simply download the release yourself, copying it to your computer or a disc. There are many other artists on the site and I recommend giving them all a listen. (You can sample songs!)

I am. I think it has a really good sound to it. I'm sort of glad I got to put down some of the songs for a while, as they sound really good now. Certain songs have been with us the whole time...Sweet Pastures, Mar Del Plata, Space in the Outer Momo, Strange Trasmission (which I can't listen to anymore) and Adrift and Alift (which I never tire of). Besides listening to these as we play them out, listening to them over and over in the creation process to make them better is a never ending chore.
