Randy Jackson - Bypass Surgery Not Permanent?

Is it just me, or has Randy Jackson (of American Idol fame) gained his weight back? I thought when you did that bypass surgery, that it forces you to eat less... but, to me, it seems that he has gained much of his weight back.

Your thoughts?

I think the mistake he made was that he had it bypassed to a second stomach he had surgically implanted.

There's your problem.

Carnie Wilson put some of her weight back on too. A friend of mine who had it done also put some of his weight back on as well.

Quite simple really. Maybe I don't understand the question, but just because your stomach is surgically reduced to the size of a golf ball (or whatever) doesn't cause it to be unable to be gradually re-stretched out to a larger size, allowing more food, causing weight gain.

True, he looks better. But, a couple of years ago, he was much thinner.

I agree... just, tonight I was watching A.I. and he gets the side shot (of the three) closest to the camera, and it's really not flattering. I'm just saying - to go to that extreme and then gain it back... sad

Yeah, that's rough. And SO dangerous to bounce up and down like that. It can't be easy to have a shitload of money and a food addiction, however. The guy may have access to whatever personal trainer/gym he desires, but think of the amount of carnitas or guacamole you could devour on a daily basis with a couple mil.

Christ, I'm glad I don't play the lottery. smile I'd be Jana the Hutt. Being thin and poor is definitely where it's at for my ass. nod

I think this is when he first got the surgery and lost massive weight.

just because he had that surgery doesn't mean he or any one can't gain some or ALL of the weight back. Your stomach can still stretch and if you have an emotional or other eating disorder that was not addressed BEFORE and AFTER the surgery chances are the person WILL gain the weight back.

Yes, he does look like he's gained some of it back. It seems like you'd have to work to do it. Sharon Osborne talked about how nauseous she felt after eating even regular sized meals.

I suppose a strict regimen of very unhealthy foods and no exercise could make even a man with a small stomach gain weight. nod

Thats a problem with these quick fix weight loss surgeries. U never learn to eat properly and exercise. When its all said and done, u still have to take personal responsibility for your own health, fitness and wellbeing. Some people never learn that.

Well, the doctors do tell them the surgery is not a complete solution and what they need to do to keep the weight off. People just don't listen. shrug

for real look at Carnie Wilson, she had the surgery, got pregnant, gained some of her weight back, and now having a hard time trying to lose it.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Randy does look heavier than when he first had the surgery done, I have to agree with you there.
