Tribute to my cat who I put to sleep yesterday. It seems to be the time of year for this but yesterday I had to put my beautiful cat Zee to sleep. He was my first pet and I loved him very much. However, he'd been ill for a while and it was time to make the decision to let him go. I told him that we'd got to the end of the road and then the vet put him to sleep. I feel awful, as he looked at me but didn't understand. My poor boy.
He was a wonderfully grumpy cat, who ruled the house. The dog was scared witless of him as was my other cat. If you talked to him he would always answer you. Sometimes he would wake my up in the middle of the night with his massive 1 stone weight sitting on me! lol, he was so funny. Missing you. [Edited 1/23/07 2:14am]

I can sympathise with u on this
for all of u & especially 2 u sj1600 who have lost a beloved family member RAINBOW BRIDGE Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... WHY SHOULD I DO THAT, WHEN I CAN DO THIS

Unless someone has lost a pet, they really don't understand the real sadness and loss that the person feels. When our dog, whom I didn't even like half the time, got hit by a train three years ago, I cried more than anyone in the house over him. The sadness lasted a couple of weeks. When my precious dog, Choochoo died when I was 14, I had to miss school and cried about her for months and still to this day, keep her framed pictured in my china cabinet.

Thankyou everyone, I appreciate it.
You do feel really silly when people ask you what's wrong, it's true, unless you have had a pet of your own it's difficult to empathise. 269, that was lovely, although am now crying like a loon, lol.

A pet is part of the family, no doubt about it, so it's just natural to mourn . I am sorry for your loss.
Find comfort in that he felt your love, that he is now free from pain and that you were what he saw last before closing his eyes. [Edited 1/23/07 5:54am]
