I don't think I saw the Emmy's.

I'm sure she's gonna be dynamite hosting the Oscars. They need someone as witty and sweet as Ellen to liven it up, without being rude.

None of the nominees are shocking. Since Prince's song was awful, I expected it would be nominated. Glad it wasn't. Love You I Do is a good song, but I expect it will lose to Listen.

My guesses (and probably the only real thought I'll pay to the awards this year):

The Departed (The Queen is the best of those, but it's far too short)
Helen Mirren
Forest Whitaker (maybe Peter O'Toole)
Jennifer Hudson
Eddie Murphy
Martin Scorsese
An Inconvenient Truth

you've got a really good point - 'national lampoon's vacation' was a bittersweet meditation on family with a realistic portrayal of lower middle class doldrums and a twee indie rock soundtrack.

i also think 'i heart huckabees' was nothing more than a souped-up 'van wilder'.

shrug I think Clint's a great director. One of the best. I never really liked him as an actor, but I love the films he's helmed.

those characters were written soo broad no way in hell you can consider them realistic...they were just as cartoonish as the Vacation characters. but hey, nice use of sarcasm. thumbs up!
