My earliest memory is...
trying to help my dad clear the driveway of snow after my grandfather’s funeral. I can’t recall anything pre-kindergarten other than this one very distinct memory.

At school I...
preferred to keep to myself, for the most part.

I don't like talking about...
there’s nothing off limits for me as long as the people I’m chatting with keep it civil.

I wish I'd never worn...
That ridiculous black overcoat – from my highly regrettable goth phase during my university years.

My mother always told me...
That I needed to talk more. I still don’t see the point of sitting around and making small talk. I’d rather read or listen to music.

I wish I had...
More focused when I first went to university. Everything seems to have worked out, but I certainly would be much better off now if I’d been a little more career-oriented in my twenties.

I wish I hadn't...
Carried on flirting with one of my co-workers last year – it wasn’t a big deal, and it never came back to bite me, but I was never really interested in her. I basically kept it going because it was gratifying for my ego. I like it when people say nice things about me.

My most humiliating moment was...
far too painful and embarrassing to recount here. I still can’t think about it without grimacing and shaking my head.

At home I cook...
Simple curries, mostly, generally with chicken and lots of vegetables.

My last meal would be...
prime rib and crab’s legs

When I was a child I wanted to...
be a hockey player, which just shows how detached from reality children are, or at least how detached I was…I was crap at most sports.

The book that changed my life was...
Milton and Rose Friedman’s Free To Choose.

Friends say I am...
incredibly eccentric. They all say it, so I guess it must be true.

What I don't find amusing is...
Jay Leno. He’s not funny.

I'm always being asked to...
Be in wedding parties! Why do they keep asking! Everybody knows that I hate that crap.

If I wasn't me I'd like to be...
An economist.

seen the light earlier in life, rather than spending years on all the wrong priorities... shrug

My most humiliating moment was...
participating in a reading contest in middle school. i was ill-prepared, and the lead-up to me representing my grade was less than graceful. confused that's probably why i'm still hesitant to read my stuff in my writing group...

as much as possible, especially with my husband, who is a MUCH better cook than i'll ever hope to be. mushy

My last meal would be...
beans and rice. and a Jaegi... lol

be a social worker! lol

It's not fashionable, but I love...
black. i have to make an effort to wear anything else.

Friends say I am...
smarter than i really am. shhh

What I don't find amusing is...
intolerance of any kind. although i'm still guilty to some degree. i'm working on it.

I'm always being asked to...
i'm with Charlotte here - people want me to write grants for them for free.

If I wasn't me I'd like to be...
one of my dogs. biggrin

If I were a car I'd be...
