47% of the time on Vacation?

I just saw on TV this afternoon that CNN Reported today September 5, 2002

That so called "President" Bush has been on VACATION 47% of the time since he took office!

They completely broke down how many days he has been in office and how many days he has taken vacation.

47% on Vacation!

Great work ethic when the usa is under attack.

what a Lazy BUMB

Clinton never took as much vacation in 8 years as Bush has in 2.

This is not true. I checked CNN's website where they upload EVERYTHING they cover on the channel and it's not there.

Show me some proof. He just took 30 days (and a lot of people questioned this), but by your estimates he would have to have had over 300 days and not one mention of this on any google search Hmmm...

Plus you spelled "bum" wrong.

It was on TV this afternoon a full story.

I didn't even look online for it.

Bush goes on "vacation" every weekend.

Camp David isn't a Military Camp.. it a place for vacation.

He is there almost every weekend.

Just like his Father did.

To be honest, that news heartens me slightly ... I'd rather have him be on vacation than running the country ... biggrin

We had the same thing happen with our previous Premier, Mike Harris. He was on vacation half the time in his last two years in office, was frequently absent from the legislature, which didn't sit at all for months.

This is typical of a CEO approach to politics. Things are highly centralized, with as little dialogue with other "stakeholders" as possibl, save for the coterie of business interests. Every big decision is approved by an army of highly ideological aides and then summarized for the prez/premier, who will sign whatever is not controversial and fine tune what is if needed. This way, our political CEO doesn't have to consult too many people with different interests. These guys are already rich and they view their office as a good CEO lending his precious time to the bloody government.Hence the many vacations...

So do you also consider it a vacation when he is sleeping?

This is why you can't believe statistics they can be twisted to make any point..

BTW Bush is also working while at Camp David. Camp David is equipped with everything that the White House is.

Where I am from a vacation is a day where you don't do ANY work and a weekend is not a vacation.

"Bush has spent a whopping total of 250 days of his presidency at Camp David (123 days), Kennebunkport (12) and his Texas ranch (115).

That means Bush has spent 42 percent of his term so far at one of his three leisure destinations.

To date, the president has devoted far more time to golf (15 rounds) than to solo news conferences (six).

The numbers also show that Bush, after holding three news conferences in his first four months, has had only three more in the last 15 months -- not counting the 37 Q&A sessions he has had with foreign leaders during his term."

Okay this absolutely proves that Locoarts was wrong and reporting half-truths.

Nowhere in this article does it use the word "vacation". Bush can work out of any of these places he does not need to be in the White House. I have a friend who works out of his house does this mean that he is on vacation 365 days a year? His house is a place of leisure (at times).

I love it when I'm right.

Read between the lines... "leisurely destinations", "far more time to golf", "has had only three more (press conferences)_in the last 15 months", etc. They are definitely hinting that he's a slacker. Just because he takes a few intelligence briefings and phone calls doesn't mean he's hard at work like you would expect him to be if he spent more time at the White House or on diplamcy trips.

How many times a week did Clinton golf? I believe there wasn't a weekend that passed that I didn't see him on the golf course. 15 times in two years isn't that many times.
