Waterfall? It's far too cold to have a waterfall in this country.

There is nothing to do here except play bingo and have sled races. It is cold ALL year round. I wear these on my feet every day.

Wait, don't yous have that one month of the year, where its like dark all day and nite?

It's 6 months of darkness. Which really sucks because we also have no electricity in this country. Everything is hamster powered here and those little bastards hibernate in the winter. We just sit around in our igloos reminiscing of the days where we could actually see the person we are talking to.

No, actually they call it "Australia" in a desperate attempt to convince themselves that they have a nice warm climate. nod

One possible way around this: some organizations, such as professional associations, offer health insurance that's effectively the same as employer-provided insurance. For example, I get my health insurance through the local bar association, to which I belong, as if I were their employee. (My boss picks up the tab -- he just prefers to "outsource" it so someone else can do the administrative work that comes with offering health insurance.)
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

Health insurance is incredibly expensive. If you or your husband don't have an employer picking up part of the tab it's going to be even worse. You may be better off just socking money away every month to pay for the doctor visits and medicine. However, if a real medical emergency comes up, you'd be screwed. Tough position to be in.

taking what Jersey said 1 step further, you can talk to your accountant about establishing a medical savings account. money you put in there will be non taxed...and if you don't have medical crises, the money grows and grows

Wow that looks cool, that way at least your children are covered. But I think kids need healthy parents to take care of them most of all, so do get some insurance for yourself as well nod

State-financed health care is great.

Excuse me, I'm going to put my hand in a kettle full of boiling water next.

OK, since you need some info. I put health insurance into the Google search engine last January, and got ehealthinsurance.com.

I went through the questions and found a PPO with HealthNet, and I honestly can say that I am very pleased with it so far.

I pay (well it just went up in January) $104 for my daughter (was $98) and $141 for me (that was $126), and this includes dental and vision. I pay NO deductible, $10 prescriptions if they're generic, and $30 office visits at first, which I now do not have to pay. I get one prescription for glasses or contacts per year, and the dental is very reasonable too (you always have to pay uninsured costs for dental). It does not cover maternity or childbirth, which is why I think it's affordable. I do this all on my own, without the help of my daughter's father (too lazy to go to court to have him pay some).

I just had a shitload of CT scans, an abdominal ultrasound, and an emergency room visit. After all was said and done, I had to pay $300 out of pocket. I go to Stanford University's hospital, and they have a program that pays for your bill if you cannot through several charities.

I would seriously consider HealthNet, they're not bad.

Thanks for all your help guys.

My kids were on chip and got booted, but they have a subsidised program where you can pay so much into so I'll get them that, and I'll check that Ehealth for me and Jer.

Thanks!
