Health Insurance

Does everyone have health insurance????

Does anyone know of any kind of cheap health insurance.

My whole family now does not have health insurance.

Does anyone know any web sites that are normal and not hard to figure out that can give insurance quotes.

Or any kind of insurance that is free if you have an existing health prob or whatever.

Seriously, someone help me. lol

I keep googling it, and getting these weird sites.

call agents in your area and talk to a real person to get a health insurance quote. be sure they explain to you what they're quoting- deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance, prescription plans, emergency care, all that stuff. if you can't get to an office to check it out and talk to them in person have them mail the info to you. and call more than one place to compare prices.

Health insurance is incredibly expensive. If you or your husband don't have an employer picking up part of the tab it's going to be even worse. You may be better off just socking money away every month to pay for the doctor visits and medicine. However, if a real medical emergency comes up, you'd be screwed. Tough position to be in.

just look in the yellow pages for "insurance", not all agents handle health insurance, but many time the ads will list "auto, home, life, health" etc. if it doesn't say health insurance just call and say "do you sell health insurance?" and then ask for a quote.

and jersey is right. health insurance is very expensive if you're not with an employer. especially for a family of four. if you don't HAVE to have a plan with an office co-pay you might want to look into a High Deductible Health Plan with a Health Savings Account. they're cheaper each month, and once you meet the deductible your health care is covered 100%.

It must still be more cost-effective than to buy a completely private insurance, no?

I don't understand the employer thing.

Like, are the employers SUPPOSED to pay so much of it?

Cuz his doesn't. Like if he picked up our whole family he woulddn't even get a paycheck.

That's what I'm saying Dani, no matter how high it is, it's going to be cheaper than going private, like, almost definitely. ESPECIALLY with a family of four.

You should find out if your state has anything that could help. In NY it's called Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus. Call your local social services dept. I don't know if PA has anything like that but there should be something for your children anyway. There may be some program that will hook you up with reasonable insurance based on your income.

be sure that you ask if they would cover those pre-existing conditions. in most cases they won't cover that stuff for a year or so, if ever. if your husbands employer is offering it, try to get the COBRA coverage until you can get on somewhere by yourself. it's REALLY expensive but your new company might cover those pre-existings you have. just be sure to ASK all that stuff when you talk to an agent.

DON'T!!!! it's still cheaper than buying on your own! and a new company might not cover your preexisting conditions!!!

Why is all this insurance going up???

How do they expect people to pay it???

Whats COBRA? When you have to pay it all yourself?

COBRA is if you leave or get fired, they still legally have to offer the insurance to you at the full rate.

It's going up because our country sucks. The people WE vote into senate, congress, etc. could give two shits about our welfare.

cobra is an insurance they're required to offer you when, for example, someone loses their health insurance b/c they're changing jobs and won't get the employers health insurance anymore. it is VERY expensive, and usually people only use it until they can get coverage through a private company.

He has insurance already through his Co. We don't. But its that Blue Cross or whatever. Well for a family of four he's be paying like 800 bucks a month. I looked it up on line, and thats what they charge for a small business a month.

So that means his Co. is not even paying anything towards it rite? Are they supposed too.

I'm so confused.

Lets say you don't have insurance and you need to get hospitalized for something. Who pays for it?

Is there any way I can get this thread off my threads list? Like, can I remove myself from it so it doesn't show up in purple on my list?

It's far too serious for me.

It sucks, but do anything you can to keep insured.
My friend had to have emergency surgery and it set her back almost $15,000 and that's with the hospital and doctors giving her a discount.

$800 a month for a family of four isn't outragously expensive. Could be a whole lot more.

No, he HAD insurance for him through work already (still does) My kids had insurance through the state and got dropped. WHo knows WHY cuz we made LESS this yr than last yr.

I was the only one w/no coverage.

Now his went up even more and he just can't afford it. So he was gonna drop it. He said everyone else at his work is too.

But, now I need ins, and I obviously need my kids to have it.
