Do you frequent local bars/clubs.. or do you tend to head for places further from lets say, from your area? The places I go, I will say are not on my doorstep, but ironically so, peeps queue up to be there, cos they be the place to be.. I mean in the part of town I live.. I just seem too far away and party on in different places.. and so where are you on this party map? [Edited 1/19/07 15:31pm]

yes. i prefer to go out of town. because many of the clubs if not all of them here only cater to a certain democraphic. the djs suck...and not in a good way. basically there's no variety and if you don't look a certain way..well you get the picture. i've gone out a few times in the last couple years...big mistake.
now, when i go out of town, it's a completely different story. the djs play a good variety of songs, crowds are more mixed (sexually, class, racial, etc..,) and people know how to have and hold a conversation that's about something else besides themselves. basically this city is shit! end of rant! Given gas prices and the fact I am always DD, I stay in area. I only go out of area if I am going salsa dancing 'A pillow covered in all our tears'

Yeah, once in a while, just to get away from the locals. Sometimes it's kinda fun to travel a bit and be a new face in the bar.

Most clubs suck here (top 40 anyone? ) but there are a few local club nights that are a lot of fun.
Montreal's nightlife is so much better but I can't travel out of town just to party anymore.

I only go the clubs 70 miles away from me. It's a half a tank of gas, round trip

Local bars.
And it's pretty much all the same people you've known from Kindergarden up, and half of them are related. Theres no clubs here, you have to go like 45 mins away. And ppl from this area only go to clubs if its someones b-day or bachelor party, or big time fighting with your husband, and your trying to make him jealous. Pretty much in the summer everyone camps out though, so the bars are pretty empty then.

Ex-Moderator | If you mean in my specific neighborhood, then not really. Once in a while, sure, but I have favorite haunts all over the city. And I like the differnt neighborhood feels to each one. And frankly, I don't go out anymore like I used to. I went from going out several nights a week, to twice a weekend, to once a weekend, now it's about once a month if that.
I do not, however, hang out regularly anywhere outside of the city of Minneapolis. Nothing in the suburbs or St Paul interests me and I don't drink and drive, so if I plan on having a cocktail, it's gotta be an affordable cab ride away. |

We have a few local places that are very cool. There's a couple small bars where you can go to see some really good musicians perform. They're mostly venues run by musicians for musicians and you never know who's going to show up and play a set.
We're only a couple hours from Toronto and there's usually something fun going on there. I pretty much only go out for live music, don't much go for the dance clubs. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

I live in a queer neighborhood in a large-ish city. There is NO REASON for me to leave my neighborhood to party.
I don't go clubbing a lot, and if I do, it's generally within walking distance of my place. If I leave my neighborhood 'cause friends (usually friends of a friend who are coming in from the suburbs ) are going someplace else, it's never more than a 15-minute cab ride. I like knowing how I'm getting home. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I don't really go to clubs or even pubs that much these days. When I drink it's usually a family barbecue or when eating out at a local restaurant. Or at the beer gardens they have here in the cold season. Very occasionally I'll go to Khao San Road with Mon and feel odd walking up and down the notorious tourist street, half hating the place, half feeling nostalgic, and um, half giggling at all the little backpackers. Yes, I have one and a half times the average feelings.
