when I was 16, I came home from school to find two strange men in our apartment.
they ran out, and before I had figured out what was going on, my sister came out of her bedroom crying. she had walked in on a burglary, and they had tied her up while they ransacked the house. Had I not come home when I did, worse probably would have happened. I ran out after them, but stopped when one of them pulled a knife on me.

This event is usually forgotten, until something happens to remind me of it.

Time will heal, and it's only money...material things can be replaced. You however, cannot. thank god you weren't hurt in the process of this violation of your space. call a locksmith and have good bolts put on the doors and windows...and be grateful you're alive

glad to hear you're all safe. hug

i had a similar situation 3 years that the org really supported me through with an outpouring of love and kindness. the whole thing rattled me for a bit and required some counseling and some anti-anxiety medication. now it's well in my past, save for the random reminder of it. don't be afreaid to ask for help.

the guy who was in my place is locked up for 12 years.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

Thank u so much everyone for all your support touched...Im still not sleeping so good lol but I guess thats to be expected ....and maybe it's a good thing it happened, as I will pay more attention to security (rather have a light warning than a drastic one) ..I have actuallly been looking into getting a trained protection dog (but prehaps Im over reacting lol )

Blackadder thank u for sharing ur story ....I can't imagine how that must have affected both u and your sister hug

emm I'm pretty sure we are responsible for any calls he made up until I notified them (which was as soon as I got up and realised). I have requested a list of numbers he called (if any) so maybe we can find out who he is that way.

Thank u all again

Getting the dog wouldn't hurt, the kids would like it and youd feel better.

I'm sorry that happened to you. That would be so damned scary. hug

FYI, alarm systems are much more reliable than dogs, and any dog that can hurt an intruder can hurt your family if it so desires, so. . . keep that in mind. rose

This suck big time the cops would be interested if you had killed the intruder and done you for it. Nothing wrong in getting a dog that Barks. Barkingdogs normaly keeps any intruder away. And if you are in the states I know someone that that can teach you how to use a firearm.

So sorry this happened to you. I think a larger dog would be a good idea. But maybe not a guard dog unless you all get training to handle it properly.
