I just bombed my first quiz

Oh man, it's so weird to be back in school. I have completely forgotten the student lifestyle (of STUDYING lol) and as a result I have bombed my first quiz. fit

Woo! eek Thought there was going to be some multiple choice or matching on it, but it was 5 blank pages with short questions (what are the principles for blah blah - 20 marks).

I was a bit nervous for being late because there was NO PARKING at the college - literally wasted 40 minutes driving around to every on campus parking lot to find it either full or reserved (even visitor parking was reserved for today for some reason?) and I had to park at an ARBY'S across the avenue away from campus. pissed

The teacher gave me the test and said "OK but you have the same amount of time as everyone else", and she had them all start a typing test on the computer after they were done writing to fill up their time, so I was hearing **click click click / fingernails on keyboards*** for the last part of it. mad

Teacher comes over and says "OK it's time to hand it in" and I'm still writing it. The class is still there for another five minutes - everyone was hanging around on the typing test. I couldn't believe she wouldn't let me finish and hand it in once everyone had exited at least. rolleyes

There was literally five minutes left after she took my quiz away. I handed it to her and she said "now log in to the typing test" - which wasn't actually PART of the quiz, just a time killer. wacky

Without raising my voice I said, "I am NOT logging in" and exited the room. hmph!

In fact, why don't we ALL log in to the typing test, this is the URL she wrote on the board.

You know, she lead a different class discussion where we were defining what makes a "professional" and a long part of the discussion was Empathy. She sure as hell wasn't showing me much Empathy today. confused

I've nearly failed two courses this year, and that has never happened to me during my previous years. The more you know about the things you are studying, the more likely it is that some teacher with modest information base is going to give you bad marks on essays.

Glad to hear you're trying out the student life too. I went back to school myself when I was 24.

Yeah, going back to school is hard. It's such a different mindset. My very favorite thing after I got my BA and started working full-time was that I could go home at the end of the day and be DONE. When you're in school, if you care about your grades, you're basically never done. I just started back last quarter, and I have been a fucking slacker, which absolutely cannot continue as my classes get harder.

My experience with transit has been this: stand in the cold wind for 15 minutes, bus finally arrives and DOESN'T EVEN STOP BECAUSE IT IS TOO FULL - Calgary is a problem right now. omfg

Yeah, it's SAIT. razz

hug Thanks Stymie.

Well it is only one of five quizzes this semester, and quizzes are weighed 25% of my mark, so I have a chance to cuss my teacher improve my attendance and adjust my study patterns.

You'll get used to the routine after the first year. But I remember how odd it felt when the vast majority of the friends I made during the first year were about 4 years younger than me (there's a "mood" in the air smile). Of course, I was not the only one starting later either.

The program is short so I gotta get my shit together quicker.

Something tells me the teacher thinks I'm one of those 20 year old punks.
