Is that:
Fuck = I wish I was paid that much per month!
or
Fuck = That adds up to a shitload of money!
or
Fuck = Man, your calculations are screwed up!
?

All of the above. And I would elaborate the first option with the additional line, "shit, I'm such a fucking loser, ain't I?".

In what way are my calculations screwed up then? I already said that they're very rough estimates. shrug

When jerseykrs made his thread about having posted 20.000 times, I gave him this as a response:

retina said:

Since some of your posts are long but many are short, I'd guess that you've spent on average 30 seconds on each post. If that's true, then that means you've spent 167 hours writing your 20000 posts. With 8 hours per day and the weekend off, that means you've worked full time on the org for one whole month and a few days. And that's just pure writing time.

Congratulations!

Now if we want to take it a bit further, I think it's fair to assume that we spend at least four times as long reading on the org than we do writing, which would then add around four and half months of full-time "work" on the org.

Okay, so 4.5 months of reading plus 1.5 months of writing = 6 months.
Say that your monthly salary is $3000 (I don't think that's unrasonable considering most people's age and experience). 6 x $3000 = $18.000

That's what your employer is paying you, which in actual reality usually means that you're costing them around twice as much (because of employer's fees, insurance, consumption of electricity, rent etc etc etc), so that takes us up to a whopping $36.000.

$36.000 / 20.000 posts = one dollar and eighty cents!

That's how much each post is costing your employer if you do all your orging from work, as many of us do. But I guess you could flip it around and say that you're actually earning around 90 cents per post since you're getting paid for your time. That's not too shabby for posting a pooptoast or a lol, wouldn't you say? smile

Then again, you could flip it around again and realize that:
20.000 posts means 6 months full-time spent on the org
10.000 posts means 3 months full-time spent on the org
5.000 posts (even I have reached that) means 1.5 months full-time spent on the org

neutral

PS: The numbers are obviously just very rough estimates, so don't get your knickers in a twist.

PS2: I don't even know where I'm going with this thread, I guess it's just a reality check.

PS3: I'm unemployed so I'm not actually costing or getting payed anything, I'm just wasting precious time. neutral

PS4: Okay, this PS was incredibly unnecessary.

It's even more that that, but woot! yay! for me. I've earned it. smile

this post reminds of a Barbra Streisand quote when she did a benefit concert in her backyard and charged $5000:

"i was wondering what I could possibly do that would be worth five thousand dollars. then i realized that I'd be singing 3,227 notes. and you know, some notes are longer and worth about $3.00, some are shorter, fifty cents, but you know, it averages out.."

But, no, I won't say...it's one of the reasons I can use my real name on the Org, I never use it for work. And, vice versa. smile

hey, it was Barbra heself who threw out the 50 cents - three dollar range. Then again, this was in 1986, so adjusting for inflation...

Nope. It's intranet... unless I eventually get into a management position of some sort. They don't trust the rest of us customer service peons with the internet responsibility. rolleyes
