Nay!

A couple hours or so is enough time with them as it is. I love my family, but I don't truly fit in with them. Our ideas of a good time couldn't be more different.

Depends how well you get on with them. I did it about 5 years ago for a big family Birthday. Was very hard!

Maybe a day or two I could cope with. Think it is enough to test most people!

I agree with Ellie it really depends on how you get along... some I would, some I wouldn't because it would just be madness

My immediate family(husband and daughter) absolutely we have a great time several times a year.

And believe it or not, even though I don't get along personally with a couple
of them, we've been doing a reunion(inlaws) every July for 4 years and find we absolutely love it.
In a group thing I can deal with those buggers.... lol

I also travel alone with my sister now and then, and we squabble shrug but still have fun in the end.

No.

Besides I don't think they'd want to spend their vacations with me anyway.

Yay and Nay lol

Yay becuase my mom is getting older and she's lived a relatively lonely life. I want her final years to have some good experience. This is the sole reason why I'm taking her to Europe with me, when I could have more freedom to do more "me" things by myself if I did not.

Nay becuase I'm the black sheep in my family. I don't like sitting around and eating and drinking and laughing with the family. They mostly get on my nerves. I have a very close relationship to my sister, but she's got a husband and two very spoiled kids now--it's hard for me to relate.

I'd be much more comfortable with traveling with single "Travel partners" around the world than with married folks or my family. This is part of the reason I'm actually looking forward to our Dorky Miami invasion. sigh

Sure, why not?

My dad and I aren't the greatest of friends but we can put aside our differences when it's needed. My mom and siblings and I all get along great.

The ONLY good thing that could come of me taking a vacation with my family is a babysitter at nites.

Other than that, there is no way in Hell I will ever go on vacation with them. I look fwd to getting away from them.

Except if my Dad was still alive. I'd take him. biggrin

Yeah. If I went with my Mom she'd totally pay for everything.

I just wouldn't be able to deal with her though, all nite and all day, I get totally stressed out around her, and it would fuck up the whole vacation.

Don't get me wrong. It's not all pity. I good a sense of satisfaction whenever she giggles in her dorky way over little things. Taking her to Strausburg will make her beam. lol

It's as much for me as it is for her.

Nay...unless they pay.

Amy's mom told us that we all needed to go on a cruise together and later I told Amy that the only way this would happen is if they paid because if I am paying I want my vacations to be alone time with her. I like Amy's parents but I certainly don't want to pay money to be locked on a boat with them.

I know people who go on vacations with their parents every year but the parents always pay so it seems like a good trade to me.

Thanks to all who reponded. It's nice to see that I'm not the only who DREADS family vacations. My family is planning to go to a beach in North Carolina, but I'm not going to go. It's not that I don't love my family (I do), but they get on my last nerve! I think Ozzy Osbourne put it best when he said to his family, "I love you. I love you all more than life itself. But you're all fucking mad!" falloff lol

Any time I can spend with my family is a good thing, so yay. Maybe I'm just recalling good times had on holidays to France when I was a kid (maybe 7 or 8 years in a row from when I was about 5) and Now tapes (and Hits tapes 6, 7 and 8) being played in the car, but I would love to have a vacation here in Thailand if my parents could come over. I miss them, even more so for having spent time with them for 6 weeks at xmas.
