Pregnant Girls Tie Up Group Home Director To Escape One Of Three Sought Girls Is From Illinois
POSTED: 1:46 pm CST January 18, 2007 UPDATED: 1:58 pm CST January 18, 2007 AMERICAN FORK, Utah -- Police are searching for three pregnant teens, including one from Illinois, who are wanted in connection with the attack of a group home director in Utah. Police say the girls reportedly whacked the director over the head with a frying pan, tied her up with power cords, taped her mouth and then fled in her minivan. The director's purse, checkbook, credit cards, cell phone, video camera and 2005 Dodge Caravan were all stolen, officials said. The incident allegedly happened on Tuesday in American Fork at a group home, where the girls had been living. It's a place for struggling pregnant teens. A 17-year-old pregnant girl was also apparently tied up. Authorities said the director eventually broke free and called police. The girls, ages 15 and 16, are from California, Texas and Illinois.

Ex-Moderator | There's a weird part of me that wants to cheer on the girls. I could be wrong, totally, but who's parents sends them to a group home in Utah for getting pregnant?

yeah...somehow i don't think they'd try to run off like that without having a good reason, either.

I'm sorry, like, I can see the seriousness in it, but my first reaction was laughter thinking of these preggo chicks hitting people with a frying pan like a Looney Tunes cartoon.

Well, there was a home for pregnant teenagers in "Polyester" and it was run by nuns...they made the girls go on a hayride in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm

I don't know about this group home. but I work at two in Michigan. One is an 18 month program for kids 16 ~ 21 who are homeless ~ they've been kicked out or abandonded by anyone who was a part of their lives, including, for the girls who are pregnant, parents, friends and the scum that they got pregnant with. They generally can't rent anywhere (no money, too young to sign a legal contract, can't sign up for utilities, often not working) and in the case of 16 and 17 year olds, can't go into a homeless shelter due to their age. The thing is, that most of these programs are completely voluntary ~ residents are free to leave at any time. There are programs like this across the country and offer a great opportunity for kids to be in a safe place, learn independant living skills and have a permanent address (to get established) at no charge to them or their families. My guess is that they needed a car and some cash and are going to meet one of the girl's boyfriends. Pretty scary for the director and the 17 year old who was assaulted. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

this almost sounds like the basis of a really bad made-for-teevee movie. something that'd be shown on lifetime or an episode of maury or whatever.
