"friends" who become famous ...

was just curious if anyone has any interesting stories of friends .... who were or became famous .... i am sure some of you do ....

and i am NOT talking about some joe who got to touch Prince's ass and therefore ... in your eyes ... is NOW FAMOUS !!!!

i just had a friend ... who i used to chat with .... go out with all the time ... he became a CFO for a major company ... he is only 38 ... and he is in control of a major 16+ billion dollar company ... a buddy of ours from college just said "wow , i can say i know someone famous now" ... neutral

and that made me think ... not that ... he is famous so to speak ... but ... its funny how small the world is ...

Lets see. No.

But Bam Margera and Johnny Knoxville are from near here, and if I knew them we'd def be friends. lol

What else, Ted Nugent comes here to hunt all the time and I know lotsa people who know him.

And I live rite by Allentown and go shopping there all the time, and Billy Joel wrote a song about it.

Oh, also, my hometown is the first town to have street lites.

Oooooh, one more. I went Bloomsburg University, and that's the ONLY "TOWN" in PA.

Thats all. :gillge:

my buddy that i spoke of above ... i have to say - kinda inspired me in alot of ways ... i remember goin thru some "tough times" in business ... and when he and i would get together for a few beers ... etc ... he would say he was up at 4-5 am ... worked out ... then went to work ... and i was like ... "wow" ... or he was up early to prepare for some big presentation with the big whigs ... sooo any lil "problem" with work that i may have had ... i thought 'damn my problems seem much less than that guys stress level' ...

he was always driven ... and ... altho he is wayyy more $$$$ than me now ... i dont think he has changed all that much ...

He was always driven and always on the go, but he's defintitely changed in the sense that he's even more self-centred, which I think is totally fine. He's doing what he loves to do and having a great time doing it.

well-put ...

i think that is a challenge for all of us ... whether we are work-a-holics OR we hate the stress of work and decide to spend more time with family ... either way it is a challenge to not "hate" the other type .... i should not say "hate" just ... maybe ... "have a problem with" ... or say "they have changed" etc ... thats what is cool about my buddy ... when i called him to say "congrats" he immediately said "lets do lunch" and i was taken back ... cus NOW he is soooo famous i didnt think he had time to spend with a guy that drives a 2001 car/truck ... lol

Well, they're all sorta famous, but Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox are the only real celebs. The others really haven't had much in the way of careers after that show.

Oh wait...that isn't what you meant by "friends" who have become famous?

I went to school with Carson Daly. I thought he was just as bland and uninteresting back then, too.

I grew up in Malibu, so I know plenty of people that went into entertainment, but it's amazing to me that carson daly is by far the biggest of them.

Never had a friend become famous. I am a music producer and since I am trying to get my music out there, if someone notices, then what? There are levels of fame as well. Like if I were to become famous with what I do, I highly doubt I could quit my day job or that I'd make all that much money.

So I am kinda quasi aloof at becoming famous thing. Like for instance THIS happened to me yesterday...

http://www.bigchill.net/s...psule.html

I have no idea what to make of it. My partner says it's a big deal, yet I am not sure what to make of it other than someone noticed. Yeah the song is first on the compilation. But how popular is that compilation and will it lead to other things? Considering the other half of "the group" has ties to The Big Chill (has dj'd twice at the festival) and it is essentially those ties that got us this mention. So maybe he'll get the props and decide to move on without me. I don't consider him to be the generous type and one if the opportunity arose for him, he'd take it. SO I take this with a grain of salt.

I knew Carlton Ridenhour before he became one of greatest rappers ever, Chuck D. We were art majors at Adelphi University - we first met at freshman orientation and became good friends. Turns out we didn't live far from each other - I lived in Uniondale, and Chuck lived in neighboring Roosevelt(also home to Dr. J, Howard Stern and Eddie Murphy).

Chuck was tearing up the mic before he became famous. He and his DJ group Spectrum used to throw some serious parties on campus. I lost track of him after graduation(in 1982) until Public Enemy hit the airwaves. Haven't seen him in a long time, but I think he still lives on Long Island - don't know what town, though.
