I NEED ADVICE! I'm interviewing next week for 2 different jobs. One is being an Executive Administrative Assistant in the same city I live in. GREAT GREAT SALARY. The other is Paralegal in San Francisco, 40 miles away.
Now I am a Paralegal. I'm leaning on the San Francisco side because it's my profession. BUT the job close to home is enticing because of the money. $32 hour. As a Paralegal I will be earning about the same but there's that whole commuting thing. I'm soooo confused. My gut is telling me Paralegal in San Francisco. What do you think? What about benefits?? Health and dental insurance along with a retirement plan adds significantly to the salary. It should be at the top of your list on decision making. Whether you can get coverage for a SO...
Doing something different will add to your resume, increase your job skills. etc. | |

Ex-Moderator | Tough choice, Miguel. I must say, I'm someone who absolutely HATES a commute. But I also think I would adore working in San Francisco!
Who do you like better? Remember, you're interviewing them as much they are you. See which seems a better fit. |

It's what I'd do! Uh, no! I'm not hating on McDonalds it's just that if I worked there I wouldn't be able to keep up with my bills. Doing something different will add to your resume, increase your job skills. etc. Yes, benefits on both ends. I just need to get the specifics. Good advice, thank you. i'd say san francisco too I would be taking CALTRAIN or BART. I drove my car to San Francisco for 4 years before and it got old real quick. Parking is $25 a day. xxoo M MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Who do you like better? Remember, you're interviewing them as much they are you. See which seems a better fit. Thanks sweety I will do that. Great advice. I got a bad taste in my mouth about the local job. They told me that the 3 execs are really demanding, blah blah blah. I'm terrified. The commuting thing wont bother me because I'll be able to nap or read a book instead of being stuck in traffic. It's too expensive. Let's see San Francisco rent.....$1300 if I'm lucky, for a studio. San Jose, where I currently live, rent Zero. Yeah, I think I'll stay here. I also have CalTrain that can take me to San Fran. They have an express. That's about an hour or so. M MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Compare the salary, benefits, location. But most importantly pick the job that really interests you.

Sweetie, the decision may not be yours. You may only get the San Fran job. You have to decide if you get that one, if you are willing to accept it.
Good luck, love. | |
