That makes sense. Really, there's not much I'm picky about, just a few things that should be air dried. But I think I'll take a bag of my indestructables to Do-My-Laundry-Land this morning. i'll be interested to know if they charge more/less than out here!

It was $14 for 11 lbs (I have no idea if that's typical for Seattle, this was just the closest place). Seeing with my own eyes how much I had to pay to wash a certain amount of laundry, my azz can't afford to do that very often. See, most people wouldn't think of this, but I'm a fat chick. My clothes are bigger/heavier. However I do my laundry it's more expensive than a skinny person, unfortunately. However, it's nice to know it's an option when I get behind (like I am now 'cause I've been sick). Sometimes it'll probably be worth it. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Also, don't know about your area, but we've got sales tax. The $14 included 8% for that. Doesn't help. [Edited 1/16/07 16:48pm] oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I hate doing mine too. My last place had laundry in my unit Now it's down the hall Actually, right around the corner, but still - I have to put on shoes to do it
I let it pile up & take over the entire closet & when I get around to it, it takes the whole fucking day b/c I block the machines until cut off since I don't know when I'll get around to the shit again. & by the end of it all I'm tired! Carrying shit, setting timers to stay on top of the cycles, trying to continuously feed the dryer so it doesn't run out Then I leave it all laying across my bed for a minimum 2 weeks once it's clean - who wants to fold all that shit after you've just finished dicking around with it ALL DAY?? Laundry sucks

Laundry sucks I have all these specialty clothes which can't go in the dryer. Sometimes I just leave them in a soggy clump on the floor after washing them for days. And then my apartment is so damn cold it can take weeks for the sweaters to air dry! It's all so stupid.

i actually love doing laundry, provided i don't have to leave my home or building to do so. unfortunately, my building in nyc has no laundry facilities. the thing i miss most about my texas house is my washer and dryer. Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

I envy people with their own personal w/d so much. I love the smell of dryer sheets so much it's almost like a pornographic thing. Working at vet clinics and animal control, there were always tons and tons and tons of towels to wash. I love folding freshly washed towels. Sometimes even at the one clinic I worked at where it really wasn't part of my job, I'd "help" the kennel staff fold a mountain of towels. Really, it was me taking a fluffy fresh-smelling mind-calming break. But at home, if you have to put shoes on and get stairs involved, it's over. Bah. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

THERE is something i'm pissed about! so this new pet supply store opened in my neighborhood and i was all, "hey, okay, i'll check it out, try to support local business, blah blah". so i go in, the shop clerk guy is really nice and asks me all about my cat and shows me stuff that grady should be eating, and i look at the ingredients and i see stuff like BLUEBERRIES and AVOCADO and YAMS and i'm thinking, what the hell cat would eat this hippie shit? but the guy SWORE my cat would love it. "OH, cats LOVE blueberries," he says, "they just don't KNOW it." so i buy a few cans of this crap and take it home and plop it down in front of my fatass cat, and he looks up at me like "what the HELL is this?!" and then he waddled off with his ears back. MY CAT WAS VISIBLY DISGUSTED. so i went back and reported this to the pet store guy and i told him i'm going back to science diet, and the guy's like OH MY GOD DON'T DO THAT, IT'S SO BAD FOR HIM, and then he talked me into going home with some damn DOG FOOD with falafel and thyme or some shit in it. grady chewed on a bit of that but he didn't clean the bowl like he usually does, so i just decided SCREW LOCAL BUSINESSES and i put my pussy back on the science diet. BLUEBERRIES!!! Oy...that dude needs to get kicked in the head...cats are CARNIVORES...they NEED meat. They can't just up and decide "I'd rather eat tofu, screw you Fancy Feast Grilled Salmon Entree", their systems are not designed for it. It could actually make them pretty sick if all they ate were fucking blueberries and avacados.

How much do you spend a year on the laundrette?? Most washing machines last 5-10 years (I ones had one that lasted 17 years) you might wanna consider buying your own. Probably cheaper and it saves you the hassle of having to go out of the house.

laundry actually doesn't bother me that much. It would bother me even less if my dryer wasn't still broken.
