i drop mine off every two weeks and have it done for $20. it's just a little more expensive than a CD or a DVD, and well worth the expense. it's one of my leftover domestic habits from living in NYC, where EVERYone i knew dropped off their laundry because everyone was too busy!

OH! mad

THERE is something i'm pissed about!

so this new pet supply store opened in my neighborhood and i was all, "hey, okay, i'll check it out, try to support local business, blah blah". so i go in, the shop clerk guy is really nice and asks me all about my cat and shows me stuff that grady should be eating, and i look at the ingredients and i see stuff like BLUEBERRIES and AVOCADO and YAMS and i'm thinking, what the hell cat would eat this hippie shit? but the guy SWORE my cat would love it. "OH, cats LOVE blueberries," he says, "they just don't KNOW it."

so i buy a few cans of this crap and take it home and plop it down in front of my fatass cat, and he looks up at me like "what the HELL is this?!" and then he waddled off with his ears back. MY CAT WAS VISIBLY DISGUSTED.

so i went back and reported this to the pet store guy and i told him i'm going back to science diet, and the guy's like OH MY GOD DON'T DO THAT, IT'S SO BAD FOR HIM, and then he talked me into going home with some damn DOG FOOD with falafel and thyme or some shit in it. grady chewed on a bit of that but he didn't clean the bowl like he usually does, so i just decided SCREW LOCAL BUSINESSES and i put my pussy back on the science diet.

BLUEBERRIES!!! mad

i was waiting for that, but at least the pet store guy fessed up that cats require some kind of meat in their diet. i know someone who's crazy OCD vegan and only feeds his cats vegan food, and the poor things look like chipmunks with nicole richie heads. disbelief

See, I have GOT to ask how much it costs to drop it off, because I fucking hate doing laundry (only because I don't have my own w/d; I used to have to do tons of laundry at work, and didn't mind a bit, I just hate hauling it around).

$20 for how many loads? I know it might be different here, but. . .?

well, they charge by pound - i usually end up paying between $16 - $23 per bag, depending on how much laundry i've gone through. i usually wash big heavy stuff on my own - things like blankets and futon covers - because it's WAY cheaper than getting it done by the pound. but for regular clothing items? totally good deal. pamper yourself. nod

I don't mind doing laundry, only thing that irks me is our dryers are small and take forever to dry a load. It literally takes like an hour and a half just to dry one load.

If I'm in a hurry, I bring my stuff to a nearby laundromat. They have these huge industrial strength dryers that hold twice as much and can dry the whole load in like 25 min.

Some pet stores (and even health food stores) will have free small samples you can bring home to see what your pet likes.

My sister appeared with our beagle on a morning news segment with a few other dogs and their owners. There was a local business selling these homemade "healthy" dog treats. After the owner talked about her treats, she was going to toss them to the dogs, and they were supposed to eat them up. We knew our beagle wasn't going to eat that shit, so my sister hid some chicken treats in her hand, and when the lady threw her biscuts out, she tossed some chicken treats out and the Beagle gobbled em up, LOL. She was pretty sly about it though, unless you were watching closely, you wouldn't have noticed it. biggrin

to their credit, the pet store DID send me home with some free samples, and they suggested i only buy one or two cans of stuff for grady to try. they didn't fleece me TOO badly. lol and they do carry a kind of dry food i'm gonna feed my cat from now own, so it wasn't a total bust.

and the plus to the price change is the dryers are much better, faster and probably save me the difference in dry time. once again, Prince knows all, "it all comes out in the wash, in time, in time, in time..."

Sounds divine. biggrin

So, you might not know the answer to this because you're a boy, but maybe, 'cause you're pretty stylin'. And if you don't, maybe some fellow lazy chick here does.

What about stuff that shouldn't be tossed in the dryer? I'm really thinking bras and lace, but also wool and stuff like that? Do they set that stuff aside, or do you just have to seperate those things out and wash 'em yourself?

I suppose I COULD go ask them this question, but I really don't feel like hauling my pink cashmere around town all day if it turns out they won't take them. mr.green

basically, if you're really particular about how you want any given item of clothing washed, don't drop it off at a laundry service. do it yourself. one thing i do is take all my work shirts to the dry cleaner, even though they're not all dry clean-only. this way, at least i know i'm getting my shirts back unwrinkled and pressed and ready to grab off the hook in the morning.

That makes sense. Really, there's not much I'm picky about, just a few things that should be air dried.

But I think I'll take a bag of my indestructables to Do-My-Laundry-Land this morning. dancing jig dancing jig dancing jig
