Need to Get Me a Government Job....

I mean, really, every time you turn around, they have a day off for this, that, and the other thing. It must be nice, that's all I can say, especially for us other working people who have to ask for days off in order to get any kind of break. Plus, government jobs pay well and the benefits are pretty good, from what I've been told.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

it really ain't as cushy of a job as everybody tends to think. yes, we get all the major holidays off and that sorta thing, but still...working for the government is really nothing more than working with a shitload of forms and acronyms for everything.

she speaks the truth

I am in a position to leave the govt job I have. My slot is getting abolished, so they either have to pay me to leave govt service or find me another "secretary" slot.

I sure as HELL do not want to be a secretary anymore, I mean no offense but it doesn't float my boat, and it wasn't what I wanted to do when I grew up lol

so looks like I will be counseling full time as of 2008, unless they can find me a govt job that I will love.

FAT chance of that happening shrug

in the long run yes the perks are great, the security of having a paycheck every 2 weeks no matter what, is nice so if you want to do it for a bit by all means try and get in, but make sure you take a position that you love, don't sell out and end up bored like I did. hug

Ugh.

I thought they had a pretty good retirement, which is the only reason I'd work for them.

I want the post"person's' job man!!!

Free exercise, cushy benefits. Nice dogs to meet, and mace for the mean ones.

hug I didn't know you worked for the government. Sorry to hear that your job is being eliminated. Been there, done that, it is never fun. I know what you mean about not wanting to be a secretary. I've been one for over 20 years now, and it gets boring after awhile.
