24 - Season 6 (PROPABLY incl. SPOILERS!)

So what does everybody think of Jack's new longest day ever? It's certainly very intense and dramatic again. I think they're doing great things with the Jack character.

LOVE IT!

I can't wait for tonight.

Plus, the sexbucket Milo is back ( drool ) the second coming of Palmer hotness is in the oval office ( drool ) and Chloe's hair looks much better now that it's brown - it really shows off her scowl.

(no, it's not all about the babes for me lol )

This looks like an excellent season...action-packed from the get go!

I was very impressed with the opener... last year we sat through 3 hours of dull before it picked up!

This promises to be another action packed season. I love the fact that 24 goes where other shows seem to not go down. It is really interesting how the writers seem to push the boundaries.

Lookng forward to what unfolds in the hours to come.

I have always imagined what would happen if the United States was attacked by suicide bombers, other than September 11, 2001, and how the United States would respond. This has been in the minds of the writers and now they have their chance.

If I recall, it was a deal between President Palmer and the Chinese. But actually it was for the head of Jack Bauer by the terrorists.

I am not sure but there seems to be nearly a two year span between Day 5 and 6, or something near that.

Ok...so, Pres. Palmer part deux made a deal with the Chinese to release Bauer (but what deal did they make?) so they could trade him in to die to that terrorist dude.

This is why I called you last night!

As far as I can tell, it's not important what kind of deal the President made to get him back. Which is kind of unfortunate, because there's no real connection between the seasons except for how Jack changed. Yet that is, who knows what will happen.

SPOILERS

(spoilers below)

Okay, show starts off at 6am showing aftermath of San Antonio bombings the night before. The video footage is shown on TV screens in Los Angeles. People getting ready for work watch the morning news while waiting for a city bus.

The bombings started 11 weeks previous in 10 different cities, it is learned. No one is claiming responsibility, but fingers are being pointed at Islamic militants.

Then we see an Islamic/Arabic immigrant, in his 20s, watching the news, and almost miss the bus. He is carrying a backpack. Homeland Security is reporting for people to phone in tips, regardless, but they don't want a witch hunt, but air on the side of caution.

The bus takes off but the Arabic person is not permitted on. He does look suspicious. Bus takes off, we see passengers, and they pan to an oriental person, who is fiddling with a knapsack and an iPod looking device. Moments later the bus blows up in the middle of an intersection in downtown Los Angeles.

Switch to The White House and President Wayne Palmer's cabinet is at odds how they want to proceed. They have to meet the damads of the terrorists, but how? Visions of World War II Japanese camps in the United States are brought to light. "Security has its price," says a key cabinet member.

"So does freedom," the President says.

President Palmer has taken office three months previous it is learned. It is also learned another attack -- this one in Los Angeles -- has just happened. Movement is made to capture some dude called Hamri Al-Assad, who is played by Dr. Julian Bashier of Star Trek Deep Space 9 fame.

A CTU plan is in place, something we learn started two days prior with the impending release of Jack Bauer from a Chinese prison.

Switch to CTU and Chloe receives a weird request from Homeland Security, which she is given info on, even though she is not supposed to have, from a new CTU employee. Top secret hush hush with the release of Bauer. Something about a covert attack with military helicopters. Chloe is given the info, but should not have, since she has massive respect for Bauer.

Buchannon and Curtis are en route to Point Magoo and in next scene are waiting for a Chienese C-130, which is holding a shackled Bauur. Chinese diplomat that wanted Bauer in the first place (Day 4) says that Bauer has remained loyal and never spoke in two years while in prison.

Buchannon fast-tracks Bauer on the state of the USA. It is learned that one of Assad's men is willing to give up the location of "Dr. Julian Bachier" in exchange for $25 million. But there is a greater demand. The informant wants Bauer in exchange for the location of Assad so the United States can end the terrorist bombings.

The informant is some dude named Abu Fayed and he seeks retribution for the killing of his brother by the hands of Bauer. This is something that happened in 1999. Audrey Raines and Kim Bauer are not to know, and Bauer agrees.

So, basically, the United States wants to sacrifice Bauer for the sake of Assan and the stoppage of the terrorist bombings.

And we know the rest ... or we are starting to see the hours play themselves out.

Hour three and four are moments away, 8-9 am and 9-10 am.

Yes, she plays the part of President Wayne Palmer's sister, and it seems that they are not close. Regina King's character is in charge of some immigration outfit.

Episodes 3 and 4 have already been aired, right? Thoughts? The end was intense IMO. Great acting and one of the most dramatic moments ever.

SPOILER below!!!

I just wonder how he's going to survive this, considering how close he was to that bang.

Yep, nice idea, never had that killing method before.

I wonder if Curtis is really dead? And I wonder if Assad might betray them later, and the whole thing right is to set the governement up. Not unlikely IMO, because then they could let Jack go really berserk. machinegun chainsaw chair

I take it the big ol DECEASED stamp on his character on the web site means he's dead.
