Mirrors actually reverse front to back... The reason it appears left to right of our bodies left/right symmetry... We fix the head to be the top and the feet to be the bottom in the reflection... but we needn't make this choice... instead we can fix our left hand to remain the left hand in the reflection... and fix our right hand to remain our right hand in the reflection... then our feet become the top, and our head becomes the bottom... So the mirror can be thought of as turning the image upside down!!  We don't do this because it's less intuitive (because of our left/right symmetry)...[Edited 1/13/07 19:49pm] | |
