I got one of my friends that does some DJ'ing to start putting my cassettes onto CD's. Then I save these to my hard drive. No more trying to replace my old cassettes anymore. It took me forever looking for Winger's first album on CD and a copy of Boys Club.

It would be cool to have ALL of my fave songs on one little thing.
Now, can ya only listen with headphones?
Can ya hook it up in your car or something?

Oh, for gawds sake, just go buy one of these:
http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/

Or a Nano or an iPod (look at the top of the same page for links) if you want something you can use in your car.

Cute!

And so tiny. biggrin

While I was in Indiana last month, I took all my precious electronic creature comforts - my laptop, my mp3 player, my battery powered toothbrush, etc. - and in the chaos of the trip, I forgot to pack the charger cord for my mp3 player before I returned home, so it's still at my mother's house.

And OF COURSE, my old ass Creative Labs Zen Xtra takes some crazy wacko hard-to-find charger, so I've just had to listen to my mp3 player sparingly until all the juice in the battery wore out, or until I could get back to my mom's place to get the charger, or until I could find a replacement.

Well, the mp3 player's battery died this week, on Wednesday. sad

And I've been going INSANE for some kind of replacement headphone music thingie.

So. This morning I ordered from Amazon what I *HOPE* is the correct replacement charger, and this afternoon I resigned myself to buying a portable CD player for use until I can get my mp3 player charged back up.

I'm totally devolving! I feel like I should be shaving with a piece of broken glass and wiping my hiney with tree leaves! bawl

If I don't get my mp3 charger soon, I'm going to grow a long beard and start walking around my neighborhood carrying a big bundle of sticks on my back and singing plainchants about Thor or some shit.

Has anyone else been forced to de-evolve lately?

i'm 'whatever' about downloading music. i already had tons of CDs and i liked the idea of putting my entire CD collection in one little box that i can take to work and to the gym with me every day. i will admit that owning an mp3 player has gotten me into the habit of buying more downloads than actual CDs, but mainly i just like toting around what i've owned forever.

1. yes!
2. it is!
3. you can hook speakers up to it - you can buy special ones for mp3 players or you can get a wire to have it play on your stereo or in your car if you want.
4. yes!

the weekend of finals the cord that charges my laptop got cut-how i don't know.i had to wait til monday to get a new one (the charger costs 80 bucks eek ). so i tried to hold on to the 50% juice i had left on it but when i went to the store i forgot to put it up and one of my sons decided he wanted to play video games and ran it down to almost nothing sad unfortunately for me it was friday and my digital imaging class was monday at 9am and my 6-10 page report/presentation was due wed at 1:30pm. so basically i had to write out my drafts, which is tedious seein how i'm so used to typing now and i had to run back and forth to the school all weekend rescanning and retouching photos that i had finished on my laptop but failed to transfer to my flashdrive pout, it was rough but everything came out well in the end. sigh

Anx, can't your mom just send the charger to you?

I say screw the ipod or the nano ...IMHO you're paying for the name.
Surething, you live in PA., I live in NH. ON A DIRT ROAD no less....and even we have had cell phones and caller ID for years and I got one of these for christmas.
http://www.battle.ch/blog...gear_2.jpg it's 2 gbs...plenty big enough.
I was intimidated at first but it's very easy to use and you don't have to download music, if you don't want to. Just stick a CD you already own into your computer, and the music will copy to a library. Once the music is on your computer it can then go into your MP3 player licketysplit. biggrin

i could ask my mom to mail me the charger, but the complications of your suggestion are just way too frustrating to go into here. trust me on this.

i don't have an iPod/nano. i agree - you're paying more for the name/design than you are for quality. i have a creative labs zen xtra - it's ugly as sin, but it's 40gb, it's dependable and it cost less than even the cheapest iPod at the time i bought it.

whatever the heck that thing is you described there at the end, that's pretty much how any mp3 player works, no?

and 2gb...that's about 500 songs. NOT HARDLY ENOUGH! lol
