They're all papes. First of all whats a pape? and I think he's proffesional to a certain degree cuz well.... he's got that silly music vid on his myspace. Song is just like any other R&B song but the music vid well...it wasn't very good in my opinion. It was, dare I say, unproffesional! lalala hehehe

my good pal Jamie from film school is getting his movies shown on PBS, not that he's famous or anything...yet
A few months ago I opened a random newspaper and there was a big huge ad for the movie Sherrybaby and in big letters it said "a film by Laurie Collyer". Laurie and I worked for a film fest and went out for beers a couple of times in the early 90's. I was pretty stunned when I saw her name. In college I lived downstairs from Lisa Loeb. Some of my closest friends were friends with her (I wasn't). That was before she got famous.

coolest ... so ... have your friends changed NOW that they are (somewhat) famous and you are .... well .... just you ...

Usually they just go off to bigger and better things and you lose touch with them. I have a couple good friends from college who are very successful in their careers and I always find it a struggle to get much attention from them. Also, they tend to be so focused that you kind of have to meet them where they are. It helps if you can talk about their work.

Thinking famous people are important is a very unhealthy attitude. We as a society have eroded the possibility for real social change, because of our insatiable pursuit of both fame and wealth. It really does keep me up at night, beyond the huge boners. All you others say Hell Yea!!

it's kind of sobering to actually talk to someone who has experienced that kind of success, especially if that person has been able to remain kind of grounded and realistic about the whole thing. i don't know about people who are just fame whores, but people who actually consider themselves artists and experience success seem to just have to work that much harder to keep up with the demand. fame doesn't really seem to be that much of a reward if what you really want to do is just keep creating stuff. that's the vibe i've gotten, anyway.

I currently work with someone who has an extremely well-known/famous parent, and therefore they are sometimes in Page 6 or on the news. I wouldn't say we're friends, nor do I hold any illusions that we'll ever 'hang out' after I or they leave the company, but I treat this person like I treat any other co-worker. If they expected special treatment I would be annoyed but they don't. They still receive special treatment from our supervisor, but that's the supervisor's problem not the co-workers.
I'm thinking a few of my friends might become famous one day--not famous movie star/celebrity famous, but famous in their academic fields. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
